Was driving past Falkland Yard and Network Rail seemed to have left some atrocious piece of machinery there. Unfortunately, it was raining (it usually is) and the best camera was my phone, it also didn't help that what I was photographing was a long way away. However I do have a photo, anyone know what in gods name is it?

Interesting train / piece of machinery. From what I can see, it looks like a load of Class 59s in ARC livery, although it looks like there are eight locos (or coaches of machinery) in this picture and ARC only has 4 Class 59s in service. Maybe they're not even 59s!?

Not much has happened on the railway, 87004 has been fitted with a new pantograph, and so has the MENTOR, here are some pictures.

Found a better picture of the train on the interweb. Here you go...

Hi

This is one of Networkrails rail grinding machines. They constantly tour the UK grinding rails to relieve the stresses that cause gauge corner cracking [the cause of the Hatfield crash]. There are smaller 2 car units that grind point and crossings. I have a picture of the cab of one parked behind my office at Washfordheath. The maintenance crew had just removed the Serco stickers from the unit as the had just lost the operating contract. Dated 14/10/2010.

Well, not much has happened on Shalmstry but my Network rail Banana fleet has had some progress, I have modelled 975091 (The Mentor), 977986 (99666) (Brake force runner) and 975482, here are some pictures. I'm quite pleased with them since this my first repaint and re-modelling project.

Thanks for the comments guys, progress has been slow on Shalmstry due to my two college courses and my work.

However I have decided to start a new MENTOR, I'm just not happy with the old one, so I shall keep you updated on it's progress when I get my donor BSK!

Finally got myself a new camera! Had a ride down to Stranraer today on the Pathfinder Easter Chieftain charter today! So plenty of chances to practise with the camera!

Here's some pics of Shalmstry (a better camera points out all the bits I'm unhappy with!)

Great pictures. The night shots look very realistic. To make it even better you could scratchbuild work-benches, junk, oilcans etc. to go inside the depot shed. The gronk with the cover is a nice idea :)

Well, today I managed to get some more done on the OHLE, the 87's pantograph keeps catching on tiny bits of solder, they need filed down a touch. Other than that all went well in the yard today. I want Shalmstry to be a DRS/Network Rail depot, as they have some interesting stock, to make plenty of unique models for Shalmstry :)
