Great Waterton
i love this layout i think everyone should have a thomas/percy etc.. on their layout I like your thinking, but I don't think it would sit well with some of the starched collared not-one-piece-of-grass-out-of-place exhibition modellers out there?! Hi, You seem to have found what has been missing of late in the world of Model railways, and that is FUN, hours of FUN for everyone, we all know of Thomas and his friends, its where most of us got the bug as children, great stuff................... Well I certainly hope it will be fun, it certainly has been so far! That little blue goblin has a lot to answer for in this house..... Thomas (and partly Dad) ignited my interest in trains and now here I am 20 years later with two model railways and a career in the rail industry! Great Waterton
Few quick updates folks. Trackwork is all painted now, just needs some weathering on sidings etc: Church gravestones and bushes: New grassed area being worked on: New road paint being applied to the right of the crossing. Since this photo' was taken the whole roadway and level crossing has been repainted:
bruced2
A cracking wee layout keep up the good work i'm sure THOMAS and his friends will have fun on it.

RW James
What happened to the tender?
Coldgunner
Doesn't come with a tender. I'd have been tempted otherwise.
Great Waterton
Yeah sadly the tender wasn't made. Although to be fair it's nothing more than a toy anyway, I'll probably end up selling it!
Great Waterton
Some more scenic development today, I'm really pleased with how it's coming along. I'm going to have Horrid Lorry 1 crashed in here, with Butch The Breakdown Truck pulling him out, although I know in the series he actually crashed into the sea. But I don't care, it's all fun and make-believe! From this: To this:
Great Waterton
Few more updated shots. Even since some of these were taken, fencing has been added. Watch this space! Great Waterton high street starts to take shape: Level crossing: Footbridge on it's new stands to actually allow trains to go under (how low did you want to build it Hornby?!):
RW James
Interesting about the footbridge - I wonder if they intended it to be on the station platforms? Nice photos - flowers look great!
Great Waterton
Interesting about the footbridge - I wonder if they intended it to be on the station platforms? Nice photos - flowers look great! Thanks James. And yes I think that was their original intention, but the problem is not only the height, but also the width. Even if you had two Dryaw Stations opposite each other accross two tracks (like in the original series), the footbridge would be sat on the very edge of the platforms which looks a bit daft. Also, the platforms would have to be so close to the tracks that the fatties Bill & Ben wouldn't be able to go through the station anyway. Doh! Part of the problem may be your track spacing - I can't be sure but it looks a little wide for British standards. But I don't know how wide Bill and Ben are either. Just a thought... But I don't know how wide Bill and Ben are either. Just a thought... Actually the track in this particular area is a bit narrower than it should be, due to the previous owner not getting the track curves quite right. I've even tried the bridge across the tracks on our main layout and even then it's very narrow. Bill and Ben are very out of scale with the rest of the models (except Toby and Bertie). Very wide as they're the old clockwork models. Part of the problem may be your track spacing - I can't be sure but it looks a little wide for British standards. Great Waterton
A tonne of updated pics for you all to enjoy (maybe!!) Haha. I'm pleased with my progress and for someone who doesn't do much scenic modelling I don't think I'm doing too badly. Smaller details like people, benches and lamps etc will be added in due course. Great Waterton
A new friend arrived today..... And with the exception of a garden shed for the bottom of the garden (in the post!), Mrs Kyndley's cottage is now finished.
RW James
the cottage scene looks great. Murdoch is a big one - too big to run on my little layout - but it sure looks good.
Great Waterton
Thanks Rick, still a fair bit of detailing to add but I'll get there! Yes Murdoch is pretty big. I haven't had him out of the box yet as he's a Christmas present!

Great Waterton
Interesting, is that the Bachmann one? I'd have liked that on here but I didn't really have the room, so I stuck with the resin buildings and went for a town & country theme instead lol. And STILL I don't have room for everything! Great Waterton
Had a bit of a tidy up last night and took another photo. As most of the work has been at the back so far it doesn't look any different!
