pitbull1845
Hi, Please forgive my ignorance but would somebody be so kind as to tell me what type of coach this is? I know its obviously part of the cable train but just wondered what it is as I fancy having a go at modelling it once my NR 57 is complete.. I'm hoping the body is already produced by one of the main players. I know its probably obvious like a GUV or something but I really am a bit thick when it comes to things like this... I've tried wagons on the web and failed miserably.. Thanks in advance for any help. Cheers Scott

EddieB
It's a generator van, usually found in the cable train, and seems to have begun life as a Mk 1 full brake (BG 81450 / 92116). If you want to model it, there's a set of vinyl overlays from Amsies (NR05) to fit a Bachmann full brake. http://www.ttcdiecast.com/amsies-nr05-network-rail-overlay-mk1-full-brake-12512-p.asp (Usual disclaimers apply). RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 17, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2011 A Mark 1 BG with very little alteration, almost just a repaint of a Bachmann BG. Merf. Grilles fitted in place of a couple of windows. Plated middle window also. There will probably be an exhaust outlet on the roof and possibly a couple of other grilles. End detail with all the power connections. Last reported at Eastleigh, but don't know if it's still in blue/red. Part of the South Eastern power system upgrade project. Also part of the project were 6261-6264, since taken on by Network Rail (and painted yellow) and are used in the various test formations. There are minor detail differences between them. Principally, the grilles on 6261-6264 are different to those on 6260. At least 6261/6262 have undergone further work and had the inner two pairs of doors plated up. RMweb Premium newbryford Posted November 17, 2011 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 17, 2011 Hi Scott, After I posted, I did wonder how recent the pics were. Good to see one of them still in blue/red. Cheers, Mick
Southernman46
This is the electrification HV feeder cable train - replaced the old PARROT / TUBE wagon / ex-SR BY combinations we used in my days of doing this type of work............looks a bit safer now - at least there are lights, good handrails and no open wagon framing to fall through.
