Lima/Kit Built OO Gauge BR Class 52 Western Loco Maroon D4160 "Great Western" | eBay

An interesting take on a modellers mindset. Come on, we've all done it. Haven't we....

I think that's probably not much above market price for an O gauge coarse scale bogie van by LMC.  I don't go a lot on the paint job, nor on the paper clip couplings though.

Buy these direct from the manufacturer…

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234660176588?

….or double their price for a pre-owned version, have the audacity to filch their original picture and pop them on your own site for sale:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/115672906690?

Market economy and all that, but it doesn’t make me happy…

Agreed. That's very cheeky, but it is Rocket Railways after all.

Neither have I, and I think it might have been a more credible look into an parallel universe of he'd done those reimaginings on a green Western. I can't imagine any alternate version of the GWR that would have countenanced the use of maroon!

"if there is no interest at this price it will be split for spares".

That means by the time he's sold them all he'll have made twice as much.

Let's be honest, if you're a customer of Rocket Railways you're hardly likely to be the most clued up and savvy railway modeller going, bottom feeders do tend to congregate.

I wrote to RR to point out that these items were not just double the price, but quadruple the postage of the manufacturer and their response was, "that's nice".

They're clearly schysters and don't give a sh!t

I had a perfectly cromulent Bachmann Bogie Bolster off them in January, perfect condition in box, £12 + £4 postage, which seems reasonable.  That said, they are undoubtedly mendacious chisellers...

He's got another identical wagon in a slightly shorter box for £65. I never new cardboard was so valuable!

Then he has this, again in a "long box" for a silly price...

£85 for a Wrenn SPV van!

Hardly looks "new" either.

Box is a bit shelfworn but the interior looks "untouched".

I suspect the vendor justifies the price as they identify it as a Coupling Conversion Van, you can see the Triang tension lock on the r/h end, the other will have a HD coupling.

Where does SPV come in?  I've always understood that to mean Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle....

In this case = 'Special Parcels Vans'.

I think they were converted from old express fish vans in the early 70s.

This strikes me as a bit hefty for something that is...well...not very good by modern standards.

and 150 notes for a five plank wagon???

And now...the pièce de résistance, I give you...

Maybe he is of the mindset, that boxed Wrenn stock is worth a fortune. I thought those days had passed?
