66709 was repainted into a striking new Medite livery at the end of April, it then spent a few days in the NEC on display at the MultiModal 2012 show. It was returned to normal traffic on Saturday 05 May travelling down on 4L02 from Hams Hall but was removed at Peterborough (even though I was waiting for it, the cheek !). On the morn of 08 May 2012 I got news it head gone to Selby (where a lot of Medite goes!) and I mused it if was to be allox to 4L78 for it's first revenue service in the new livery. There was a dearth of information about this movement but eventually the news came through, it was on the train and was heading South, making good progress. I decided to head down to Westerfield to photograph it, the weather was good, bright but no sun, but sadly the sun came out (it's not ideal in the evening at Westerfield) making some of the shots less than perfect, but I don't do "trains are more fun in the sun" shots for magazines, I simply record events at various places, so I stayed put. Here's my selection of shots from the couple of hours I was there.

The station is served by East Suffolk line (Lowestoft / Saxmundham) trains and Felixstowe trains, the Felixstowe trains use the "wrong" platform when heading towards Felixstowe as the crossover is on the Ipswich side of the level crossing.

Great pix as always Dave. However, a very unimportant looking junction for such a heavily trafficked route. And poor old Benjamin eh? A major contribution to musical history and someone decides to name a Dog Box after you. :D

So Harry Beck's diagram is on the side of a loco. Looks like it might be his original rather than an up-to-date one. I'm trying to picture a confused tourist consulting it as the signal turns green and the map pulls away.

And I presume Britten's portrait is intended to look like it's been blown up from a badly-printed 1 inch square newspaper photo?

One day I will get a close up of the map.

Something not modelled very often, a lot of the local scuds have them.

It looks as if 66587 has its tail lamps lit, although hauling a train - Hopefully an optical illusion ?

Couldn't comment, but it's not an optical illusion ;)

Nice images, Dave - as said, it's amazing to think of the tonnages going through here; the combination of traffic, single line branch, wrong line working through the platform - a real modellers dream!

Reminds me of the "statue" (for want of a better word) of Tony Hancock in Birmingham, basically a big metal sillhouette with 'oles drilled through....
