awwalker
Evening all The title of the topic pretty much sums up my question for everybody. i bought a loco ( Hornby 14xx) from the excellent perth show last weekend. I wanted to renumber and relivery the loco from a 'GWR example' to an earlier 'great western'. I duly started to apply T-cut to the letters on the tanks, but......... i kind of got a bit eager and thought that the all over gloss treatment was the way to go. How wrong i was! If i am wanting to restore this while renumbering / relivery, will i have to strip and repaint of is it just a matter of applying the decals and then putting matte varnish over the top? Cheers in advance Andrew
ozzyo
Hello Andrew, in this case I think that a photo would help. OzzyO.
micklner
As long as you havent gone through the paint to the plastic base? varnish will be fine.
BRealistic
Having used the 'T-cut approach' when weathering coaches.. to good effect... I did wonder whether I could repeat the approach on a loco to give it a 'recently-shopped' appearance. Is there any chance you can upload a photo before you take micklner's advice and apply matt varnish? Would really appreciate it! Cheers
awwalker
The water tanks in this side view are in reality a bit more shiny than the photo lets on.
micklner
Decal and varnish should be ok. Make sure there is no grease/polish on surface before decals.
BRealistic
Thanks for posting the photo Andrew. Must say, it hasn't put me off the idea!
