47832 - Class 57 style roof grilles - no Serck radiator shutters

Is DRS doing this to all it's mainline certified 47s?

Apart from 57/3 and FGW 57/6's, DRS have a couple of 57004/009 with late style grilles. 57004 has carried them since at least late 2009.

That was quite an impressive a show the driver put on there!!! Does anyone do an etch of some kind yet for these grilles?

 

Also is 47832 now the loco that has carried the most number of different liveries in the shortest space of time?!?

I suspect DRS have learnt from the Class 57 program , where changing the radiator assembly was part of the rebuild - in my limited experience of working on class 57s , they never seemed to overheat , in fact they took a little too long to warm the engine up , resulting in it being in de-rate mode with less power available.

So , I'd guess they've done this work on the 47s to improve reliability , plus, if the original radiator units are beyond repair , I suspect they'll struggle to find a decent replacement , so it's probably easier to fit the newer component.
