knobhead
Thanks Pete! It's a lot of fun trying to breathe new life into what's basically a very good model. Regards, Stefan

RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted September 18, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 18, 2012 Don't forget that when you get to the engine bit they did not have lamp irons but instead the square sockets at this stage in their lives. Coming along nicely and is going to definitely be something different when it's finished.
knobhead
Thanks Mike! The square sockets will be there. I'll make the final push on the loco within the next few days. Regards, Stefan
8752
A coat of satin/flat varnish, coal and a lamp will be added tomorrow. Looking good!! I have a Lord of the Isles in a display cabinet it may soon be out and on the workbench!!
BG John
Looking good!! I have a Lord of the Isles in a display cabinet it may soon be out and on the workbench!! I've got one lying around too, and am tempted. After I've backdated an Airfix 61xx to a 31xx in original early 1900s condition, and finished the Mainline Dean Goods I started backdating to the same date a very very long time ago! knobhead
Thanks chaps! This is probably the most fun I've ever had modelling. There's not a whole lot to remove, it's mostly about adding bits. I recommend having a go!
RMweb Gold PhilH Posted September 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 21, 2012 Excellent work!

knobhead
I've been painting for the past few days and there is still a couple of more days to go! It's more time consuming than the regular all black loco but at the same time more enjoyable.
knobhead
Ran out of gloss varnish............ I need (want) another layer before I apply the lining. Hopefully more varnish will arrive by Monday or Tuesday.

knobhead
I was very happy last night when I glued the sand boxes in place. A while later the turn had come to the springs and they didn't fit because the Lord of the Isles sandboxes are way too wide. Wasn't as happy anymore. Will make new sand boxes today.
aberdare
Hi Just come across this thread and that is a great loco you have got there. I think I will have to look at something like this in the future as it would go well with my planned layout. I shall have to keep my eyes open for a cheap second hand model. Thanks for posting. knobhead
Thanks Jim! The Lord of the Isles is a good starting point for a 2-2-2 loco and I'm looking forward to see what you do with it. Regards, Stefan
Miss Prism
Nice colour for the frame red brown, very 'Buffalo'.
knobhead
Yes! I'm heavely influenced by Buffalo and The Stationmaster.

knobhead
Thanks! Hopefully, it will live up to your expectations! However, I'm not keen to count my chickens until it's all done.
Colin parks
Hi Stefan, The loco looks rather fetching in the GWR lined green livery. Are you intending to add some extra weight in the loco for better traction? Regards, Colin
knobhead
Thanks Colin! I had to remove the magnet behind the driving wheel, it interfered with the Gibson trailing wheel. The plan is to get as much lead as possible into the boiler and the firebox. It would be nice if the loco could handle three or four coaches. Popular Post knobhead
Some small things left to do; adding weight, cabside loco number, crew and fire irons, bit pretty much done! I would like to thank all of you chaps for viewing and pushing the like-button on the way! 45
