cornish trains jez
Good evening, Myself and my wife headed down to Dartmouth in Devon for the weekend and I decided to spend some time taking some pictures of this magnificent A4 locomotive as it approached Kingswear on a special and also as it was about to leave in the late afternoon. I have had a play with some of the shots and converted them to black and white for nostalgia purposes. Did an A4 ever visit this location before the official closure of the line?? Anyway here are some pics, enjoy! Here she is as she approaches Kingswear just after 12:30. And as she prepares to depart later that day. Best regards, Jeremy

Not sure. Although I heard one guy mentioning that the loco was going to Paignton in between its arrival and departure, possibly it was turned there. cary hill
There is a turntable at Churston which could be used . I'm sure I've seen a YouTube video of a King being turned there after working a similar but slightly more authentically powered "Torbay Express". RMweb Premium MPR Posted September 20, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 20, 2012 The Churston turntable is used to turn the loco, usually 30 minutes after arrival of the down train at Kingswear. It then works light to Paignton for coaling, returning to Kingswear later. Martin
