You may remember two of Paul (Naturol)'s previous layouts Castle Works and Waungron Park both of which have graced the pages of Model Rail earlier in the year.

Paul's latest layout Sanatorium Road, a Network Rail Depot, was shown at the Cardiff Show this weekend for the first time. Here's some pictures:

would love to provide pictures but alas there lies a problem.

1. I am not a good photographer, and have a very poxy digital camera that when you use flash, it blinds the whole image, which immediately highlights the next point.

2. the whole range of my infrastructure stock was designed with the 3 ft rule in mind, so whilst i am pleased with my own effort, the models do not stack up well to close scrutiny, which when bourne in mind I scratch build from very basic materials and with no expenditure, I aim to make a representation not a scale model.

3. I dont know how to up load the images from my library. happy to show the under construction shots, just dont know how.

What I have built includes. A RHTT, a water jetting train, the HOBC RM95RT, a stone blower, a pair of war wells with excavator loads, a pair of Colas self propelling cranes, numerous test train coaches, a colas support train based on a container flat, a self discharge train conveyor unit, an a variety of SERCO and Railtrack coaches, will try and download them over weekend, as you can see by my posts I am not a frequent poster, a bit of TLC needed.....

Regards

Rol Jnr.

Looking good! I echo Bob's comments above

Keep up the good work with the stock - it's refreshing to see someone making the effort, rather than just painting it yellow!

As for photo uploads, there's some info in the help section of the forum.

Cheers,

Mick

Love the RHTT train. Are you in the market for taking orders?

this was my very first attempt at a scratch build a few years back and i would encourage anyone with capable hands and eyesight to have a go, the machine boxs are trimmed down lego blocks clad in plasticard, to keep them square, it sits on a pair of old second hand Hornby container frets, the tanks were ratio fuel tanks, handrail from plastruct.

I had no drawings just a picture to copy, the whole thing was built in a weekend for under a tenner, Sorry, I dont do commissions, but I have sold some of my previous attempts to fund a holiday...... which looks the way things are going with this layout in the spring.......

hi great layout can you tell me how you made the stone blower

I had a Bachmann mkI coach chassis spare following a coach conversion, this provided the basic chassis from which everything was built from plasticard sheet, i used images off flickr as a start and scaled up off these getting the overall dims of the machine off a web site, later part of the coach roof was utilised as well, it is not motorised and is typically towed by a DRS 37 as appeared in a stock move picture which inspired the build of a movement to Taff sidings at canton a few years back.

also how did you make the hobc

This was a bit more accurate in that it is scaled from a graphic on the Plasser web site, I have a CAD system from which I re-drew the image at 4mm /ft, I then cut the main beam supports from plasic card and fabricated the chassis,

the running gear was from Bachmann Y25 bogies and were the only parts I bought, to ive the chassis ridgidity i sourced some timber trimmed at my mates work shop to make a solid spine, this was superglued to the plasticard, and was also used as a basis for the conveyors, the sides were cut on a laser cutter from plasticard by a mate of my sons on a school laser cutter as part of a project, the couplings are KaDees, and it was sprayed in Precision paints pre tops warning yellow then weathered by Brian Tucker, a fellow modeller who weathers all my stock,

I have pictures of the construction and will post them over the next few nights should you be interested?

regrads

Paul.

The layout will be attending the Newport (gwent) show this weekend, with the additional multisound app. BR2975 also in attendance keen to engage any unsuspecting spectators, waiting like a coiled spring, as an alternative there is the piercing drone of a high revving idle tick over of a Cl57 in the fiddle yard. what joy awaits.....
