7APT7
Hi Lee Excellent models mate and a lot of time and effort, but the outcome is superb... Jamie Edited January 10, 2014 by 7APT7

johndon
One question though. Is the mold line down the side of the nose meant to be there or is it a bad cast? The mould line shouldn't be there but appears on all the Bachmann Blue Pullmans (at least all those that I've seen) and certainly spoils it for me albeit it would be a fairly simple job to rub it down and respray the nose... John I'll be having a closer look at this as I now have 2 complete units to repaint Bit of a Southern invasion on the bench. I have started work on fitting lighting to the Cornish 08 private shunters. White marker light Tail light Floodlight 1, the 2nd one is to be installed on the opposite side. blueeighties
Cheers Jamie, nothing done to the Cromptons yet, but I do agree, they are cracking little locos!
blueeighties
Moving into January, the workbench is busier than ever. Great news! Shame I'm working a bit slower today due to a terrible dose of man flu Been painting some class 60 silencers. I thought their 'factory fresh' colour would make a better undercoat for weathering. Been weathering a Heljan DPU. The marks in the dirt on the bodysides are copied from pictures...marks no doubt created when loading mail at stations. Repainted this beast as 050, 'Roseberry Topping'. Chassis has been weathered, body to do as yet. Something a bit different.... Love these little Cromptons. This beast is in for repainting in its later livery of reversed blue/grey. A batch of DRS beasties. Back in the day, this was the first 56 to get the then bold new large logo livery.

blueeighties
Hi Pete, cheers. I sprayed all of the 37's, and to be honest, found it the easiest way so far. I will do a couple of locos soon with the pen to see which method I prefer.
emt_911
Lee As usual, stunning work. Really glad that the workbench is remaining busy. Long may it last. :sungum: Duncan
7APT7
Excellent workbench, and great line of the 5 class 37s, how many 'tinlets' of blue paints just to paint those 5 class 37s bodies... Great work... Jamie

7APT7
Not much surprisingly, about half a Precision small tinlet Man.... you do surprise me, I expected a lot more than that, so these pains go a long way.... Thanks for that, I would love to have a go, thought of starting with an old Lima body shell, just start with a Br Blue... Where would you recommend to start if its your first attempt which I guess will either end up in the bin or start over again, but is it recommendable to paint on top of an existing livery or do I use paint striper to get it back down to the shell....? Just a DPU, umpteen 37s, a 60, Blue Pullman, ScotRail 27, 33 and a 56 today then, hey? That's about four years work for me. I saw a ScotRail 27 on ebay a while back. Never thought I'd see another one! Cheers, Dave EDIT: ScotRail 26 I mean of course... I should know the difference by now! Cheers Jamie I would always recommended starting with a back to plastic body. Phoenix Superstrip is the best one I have found. Stick to all simple 2 colour livery for starters. blueeighties
Well, here's what everybody has been waiting for. Judging by the fact it has already sold out at the big H, I think this has been one hell of a popular release.Bar the stil grossly overscale bogie mu jumpers, and the windscreens, (reasonably easy to correct), I think Bachmann have done a good job here. Enjoy the pictures.
RBE
Pretty good. I think the screen issue is made worse on these and and 37 for that matter in that Bachmann persist on making the openings about right and then moulding the beading on the glazing which makes the windows look too small. They ought to mould it on the body and fit flat glazing. Would look a thousand times better!
blueeighties
In other news, a few completed projects!
RBE
Very nice Lee. I still dont buy airbrush weathering on grilles though, not without at least some proper washes first. Just a pet hate of mine so nothing personal. Good job none the less! Edit: the large logo 37 is the issue for me on that front, the 33s and the drs 37 is nigh on perfection! tractor_37260
Super photos of the new 40 Lee - other than the "thick faced buffers/shanks" I'm really happy with mine, a big improvement on the original version. Easy to swap bodies over as well, no more speaker wires - sprung contacts instead. A ScotRail 26 - easy to see why Chris Green never sanctioned that in his day ;-)) great job all the same As for the big H selling out - no worries - Hereford Models has stock and also cheaper than the big H - that's of course if you can't get one from the CFPS which really should be ones first port of call ! Cheers Ken
Jon020
Thanks for posting the 40 images Lee. There are still things that I wish were better, but it is an improvement on what we had before... just a shame that it's not of the same calibre as their LMS Diesel Twins... which are cracking models and set the standard to be followed. Shame it wasn't achieved in house.. but yes better than before.
