RMweb Gold Market65 Posted September 4, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 4, 2015 Hi Lee. The weathering of that Mk1 RMB is really good, with some very fine vertical streaking on the carriage sides - which I don't think I've seen on a model before. With best regards, Market65. blueeighties
Thank you. I prefer the subtle approach rather than heavy handed. I always remember coaching stock as having lots of rain streaked weathering down the bodysides.
RBE
Indeed Lee. Your weathering has become very subtle and very very good. Right up my street as you know. I remember around a year or so ago me criticising your weathering as just a quick blow around with the airbrush, which it was. You said that with the amount of work you have to get through there just wasn't time to dedicate to delicate and accurate weathering using several techniques. This has certainly changed. You are now employing the techniques and style that I longed for you to use back then. I can only assume that you a) got better at painting (time management really) so taking less time to turn locos around leaving more time for finishing and b ) realised that a few extra hours of finishing makes the models considerably more desireable. Its good to see. Edited September 4, 2015 by RBE
Arpleymodeller
Good evening Lee, The sheer quantity and quality of your modelling output is totally inspiring, I've still got projects started years ago that are waiting to be finished off! However, it's always a fine act of balancing jobs, time spent, etc etc. I had a 'job stocktake' this afternoon, as I felt that the workshop is exceptionally busy at the moment, my totals seem to confirm this. blueeighties
I am finishing up a 7mm 26 this week, which has had the usual tablet recesses filled, door windows filled, etc etc. Replacement doors require new handles so... I drilled some 0.5mm holes in some plasticard strip, and bent some l shaped handles up from .5 handrail wire. These were then secured with a dab of superglue. 006 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Painted silver 007 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Fixed in place 015 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 016 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 013 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Need to paint this fella to go in the cab next. 009 by rothburyuk, on Flickr

D9JEF
Hi Lee, swift response... No lights then? The reason I ask is that I gave one in GMPTE livery and I want to put lights in and wondered whose stuff you would use. It will be unpowered and pushed/pulled by a Sprinter. Any thoughts gratefully received Cheers Jeff

Wayne 37901
Not sure about 31184 but those on 37298 were for when it worked 'the gwent growler' railtour with 37142 in 1990. HTH
blueeighties
A project which has been ongoing and is now coming to a conclusion, I am happy to report. Norm81 of this parish kindly offered to make a circuit board to control the lighting of a Hornby class 60. This all started off when I mixed up some chassis and lighting boards, as Hornby wire things arse first and non dcc standard, it was a bit of a headache. Another forum mmeber (who I have forgotten the name of, apologies), actually designed the electronics, I'm nowhere near clever enough. Anyways, it allows the loco to do the following. Corrects the polarity of the Hornby negative common wired light boards. As we know, standard dcc wiring practise is to wire common positive. By pressing F1 on the controller, the lights can be switched between daytime and normal running configurations. By pressing F2 on the controller, the tail lamps can be switched off. Both functions work whatever direction the loco is running in. Very clever stuff. Norm is looking at developing the board further and making it suitable for a Hornby 56. I have a pile of them which were sound chassis and have non standard wired lights. Thanks Hornby. Why? 013 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 015 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Today has been a cant rail lining day. 021 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 031 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 036 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 025 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 023 by rothburyuk, on Flickr 037 by rothburyuk, on Flickr And a Bachmann 101 which is undergoing chassis detailing prior to weathering. 019 by rothburyuk, on Flickr Edited September 12, 2015 by blueeighties
jonas
You must really look forward to cantrail lining day, what a treat! Or not.
Norm81
As there's only 2 leds per board on the 56's so 4 per loco, it may be better to just turn the leds 180. As the 60's have 12 leds it's way more work to do that with them. Shall think about it.
