Nice bit of sea wall action Steve and lovely looking models.

I'm particularly taken with the 28xx, would you happen to know the manufacture of the kit ( assuming it is a kit ).

I painted up the internal tunnel wall, the usual slaters Brick sheets

I’ve also cut in the missing sheet from the sea wall and given it a base coat of red

Lastly the gel paint has dried clear, if you blow the picture up you can see the ripple around the where the water falls

The cycle of washes and sealing continues on the wall sections,

Ive been playing about with some tree placements, not all of these will get used as I’ll purchase a forest in a box kit at some point but hopefully it shows the overgrown look I’m going for on this section.

The underpass at Smugglers retreat is looking very overgrown! Ferns aplenty but Watch out for those stingy nettles!

Severn Tunnel East is now being dismantled, the tunnel mouths are available for sale as is the bracket signal

Mat Rainer paints the Mk1’s, David Magill painted the Staniers. post-5983-0-02145700-1530989043_thumb.jpeg

Some years ago Ken the local Ganger and also amateur artist painted a tribute to his former employer the GWR, knowing this was an isolated spot and unlikely to draw the attention of the new BR management its lasted very well and even gets touched up now and then, Ken has more to worry about this year as the line side vegetation is really taking hold, it’s all the warm weather but frequent showers!!!

Ken also looks after the allotment at Coryton Cliffs and is responsible for planting the palm trees!!

Steve,

Haven’t studied photos of the area, so please treat this suggestion accordingly, but the check rails appear too far from the running rails to me. Should the check gaps not be similar to pointwork?

As an aside, are they moulded plastic, rails, chairs etc in one piece?

Best

Simon

Probably, I just googled check / guard rails. You can get 3D printed check Rail chairs now or chop up existing ones like I do when I build point work. I didn’t fancy hacking the chairs on moulded sleepers.

It’s just a representation really.

On bullhead track on 'important bridges and viaducts' check rails may be provided - so not absolutely compulsory but definitely 'check rails' in the usual sense of the term.  They must also extend some way back from the running-on end of the bridge (in order to catch any vehicles already running derailed).  In the past on flat bottom track guard rails were used instead of check rails and photos indicate these normally took the form of bullhead rail laid on its side and not quite as tight to the running rail as a check rail but mounted slightly higher than a check rail (which would be 1" above the running rail)..
