georgeT
Hello Andy, l always used to make my own window's, just thought l would try something different, after all they will be weathered so you wont see much of them, Looked everywhere for some yard lamp's at various show's to no avail, so l thought l would make my own, they are a good 10" tall, and have to fit the LEDs into them and add some extra detail. emt_911
George I like the idea for the windows. I might have to try it in 4mm to see if I get a better result than using plasticard strip. Duncan
Andrew P
Hi George I hope you going to use YELLOW LED's in the Lamps. Bodgit
RMweb Gold Donw Posted June 6, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 6, 2013 Window look good and the lights. How do to plan to connect up the LEDs George? As it is a steam shed the lamps should be yellowish incandescant bulbs. Don
georgeT
Duncan, Get yourself a decent bow-pen, you will be amazed at what you can make window wise, l make a window and do the lining on it, and give it a day or two and do it again you can then build up the layer's to get them fairly thick and you wont be able to tell the difference from etching's ? georgeT
Hello Bodgit, Yes l will put some yellowish type LEDs in the yard lamp's, (PS) Does anybody know if they should have some sort of shade on the top's ? GT
georgeT
Morning Don, Yes l will be putting yellowish LEDs (when l find them), l know that they are not prototypical but they look like a yard lamp, the main shaft is probably a bit thick, but l need to put two wire's down the shaft and through the base board and wire them up together so they all come on together ? Andrew P
George, if you had used a Brass tube you could have soldered one side of the LED to the brass at the top and then only one wire would need to pass through the tube, you then solder another wire at the base to connect up. I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS it just what I have seen on our clubs layout and that has a Guitar Jack plug at the bottom of the post and this forms the larger shoulder that most posts seem to have and so they can be removed for maintainance and when the layout is stored, remember the clubs O Gauge Shed was an Exhibition Layout in its own right. Just an idea mate Bodgit
georgeT
Hello Bodgit, No nothing so technical l'm sorry to say, if l was thinking of making 72G an exhibition project then l might have done something like that , just have to be very careful when moving around the layout. georgeT
Hello Andy, Yes l have been busy in other projects, but l managed to fit the LEDs into the yard lamps l built last week, l have had them on test for 5 hours and they are not hot, so it looks as if they will be OK.. Think l will fit some type of square reflective hood on them ? GT

georgeT
Still making good use of left over track, by using it to represent guttering along the shed, GT
Andrew P
Very neat guttering mate, what are you using for the down pipes, drinking straws? Bodgit
asa
What a great idea for the guttering hadn't thought of that, it all looks great George.
georgeT
Hello Asa, Yes its amazing what you can use as alternatives in building models, l use anything l think l can get away with these days like DAS, Cardboard, Plastic, Wood, bits of metal rail and it can save you a small fortune in time, those yard lamp's for instance cost me under a £5 for all three, including the LED,s l was looking at some at Halifax and they wanted £22 Each ? Back at 72G l needed a more substantial water tower, so l bought some more white metal sections, and made a new base with bigger window's.. Andrew P
Hi mate that looks a better size, How are you going to add the water? Bodgit

N15class
I had forgotten what a fine selection of locos you have. I particularly like the G6. I had one once black and lined green.
Andrew P
Hi George, A great set of pickies mate, are you going to fill in the bottom of the fiddle yard bit so locos don't drop on the floor? Bodgit
