Xerces Fobe2
Having seen the new Hornby 0-4-0 Sentimel Shunter it looks poosible to potentailly convert it to a model pof the 1 of the 3 LT 0-6-0 sential shunters that LT used in the 1980-90's. I think it you would need 2 bodies and a new chassis so it would not be a cheap conversion. http://www.Hornby.co...strial-shunter/ http://www.railwaysc...php?imgref=5198 It would make an interesting project for anyone that had a layout with an Underground Depot on it! halfwit
Branchlines and Roxey both do chassis kits for the Knightwing Sentinel, which is an 0-6-0. However, if you're going to build a new chassis you might as well build a new body so you might as well either track down the Knightwing kit or just buy the Judith Edge kit! GoingUnderground
If the 0-4-0 sells well, then I would have thought that might encourage Hornby to produce the 0-6-0 version. However, I may well settle for he Judith Edge kit, Oh dear, that brings the number of their kits that I want to 4. IT's going to be an expensive Spring. RMweb Gold TravisM Posted December 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 21, 2012 Nice but no cigar i'm afraid, if you want the proper thing, you have no option but to buy the Judith Edge kit. Trying to convert it to a 0-6-0 would be a complete nightmare as the bodyshell might have been modelled too short for a 0-6-0. I know the feeling Going Underground lol. RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted December 21, 2012 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 21, 2012 Just to clear up some of this discussion, the cab and engine casing are identical on all the 0-4-0 and 0-6-0 Sentinels, the 0-4-0s have a shorter fuel tank (the bit behind the cab) and the frame is shorter with no walkway across the back. The chain drive 0-4-0s are are on a narrower platform than the rod drive locos (all 0-6-0swere rod drive). Michael Edge Judith Edge kits
Lord of Narnia
That looks ok. Why would one want a Sentinal when you can have a Pannier or a Battery loco. They weren't that common and you need to build a tender (out of a Q38 bogie) to run it!
