DanielB
It tugs at me to see the potential that 58 had, though I'm glad I sold it on to you - you deserve it more than I do. On a related note - it will be nice to see Markham Colliery hammering through MD with a nice long MGR rake - if you'll let it, of course! Everything looks fantastic as expected Cav, those viaducts are amazing. Absolute legend you are, mate! Edited May 29, 2014 by DanielB
Pete Harvey
It does look very good Cav but can we have some close up please? Pete
RBE
That 58 is cracking Dan. Cheers for selling it to me! If you find me a route Ill do the train, Markham colliery to where? Ill do some close ups when Ive finished cladding it Pete. You just want to see my dodgy corners, I know your game. The wood is not the most perfect of surfaces and as such not easy to clad. I need to add a bit of filler here and there and tidy the stone courses on the corners but I wont do that until its fully clad and set. Ill do it when I get the DAS on for the soldier course bricks. DanielB
No Cav, I mean It'd be nice to see 58003 hammering through Millers Dale. Edited May 29, 2014 by DanielB
RBE
Ahh haha. Yes of course! It will have to be on the HAA cross country though chap. Or maybe a failed passenger!

jonas
It's certainly worth the wait - you aren't compromising anything for speed, and that will be worth it in the long run! Edited May 29, 2014 by jonas
DanielB
Here's your reason to run a Bolsover colliery train through Millers Dale: https://www.flickr.com/photos/75892080@N06/8518778466/
RBE
I dont know how to write that noise that mechanics make when they suck air in through their lips before telling you bad news but thats the noise I need to insert here. The CAWOODs were always a fav of mine over in the west and now a pic of a train of em near chezzy means a viable cross country liverpool docks? to bolsover service for imported coal. A coal 56 and a train of them would look a treat. 58003 would look good on em too. Edited May 30, 2014 by RBE
Scott B
As the Coalite plant at Bolsover, where that pic is taken, produced smokeless fuel (IIRC), maybe an train of coke for export to Ireland would fit the bill nicely as coal was usually exported to Ireland via Liverpool Docks / Garston back in the days that the picture was taken. Imported stuff only really started with the run down of our own coal industry. Scott
RBE
That sounds plausable. Just need to grab myself two rakes of these now then, a full and empty!
RBE
Im going to need a fiddle yard like tinsley marshalling yard at this rate!
DanielB
Just get a rake of them and swap out the containers when doing full/empty runs - save on yard space!
RBE
I thought about that but not sure if c rail donthe coal containers as seperates and dont knownhow fiddly it would be swapping em out for every change of run. Im already doing dropnin loads for the roadstone without doing them as well. I have a rake of full HAAs which may be used as the bolsover to liverpool leg of exported coalite could run the cawoods as the empties who knows. flyingsignalman
Here are scans of a drawing of the main station buildings provided with the new viaducts. I had put in an enquiry in the Railway Modeller in about 1975 when I thought about making a model; Greg Fox sent me this plan. If you would like full size copies of the scans please pm me

Andrew P
Hi Cav, now the internet is back on I'm catching up and having a read through. The plans look very interesting, I'm just wondering how much detail YOU could get in in 2mm scale. I'm sure it will be loads. All the best, Andy, PS. are you going to DEMU? RBE
All of it I hope! Haha. Ill try my best. Im at DEMU tomorrow yes. Are you down?
cornish trains jez
Those plans look great Cav. Thanks to flyingsignalman for posting them. Looks like you will be able to build some accurate station buildings now too.
RBE
Indeed Jeremy. They look great. Another bonus is that that building still exists so I can go up there with the tape and camera too. The canopy and subway info is interesting though as obviously that has long since gone. In other news, a good day at DEMU was had today, lots of good stuff. Interesting that the scrap? dealer on Black Country Blues has my name. Its not a bad choice as Millward has been associated with middle england for many generations. I also picked up a c rail cawoods wagon kit to have a crack at before I decide whether to do a full rake. Dan you are a bad influence! Looks like you will be able to build some accurate station buildings now too. Many thanks for the kind comments. My photos in post 67 on p3 of this topic show that the roof of the building was either built slightly differently or altered later from that shown in the drawings. As this photo from 28/8/1982 shows. RMweb Gold Revolution Ben Posted May 31, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 31, 2014 Hi Cav, It was good to meet you at the DEMU show today, in fact it was a really friendly event with lots to chat about. The C-Rail PFAs are nice but I know that Arran runs a full rake on Law Junction and I understand he and his team have found the Achilles' heel is the coupler which, I think, has to be glued in solid and therefore can cause some difficulties. Cheers Ben A.
