RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted October 11, 2014 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 11, 2014 How about these Andy....... Layout is dismantled at present awaiting assembly at the back of the train hall to run trains from Goathland. I'll need to make a temporary base board to achieve this. I might take it to the local show thanksgiving weekend but it will cost a small fortune in gas. So maybe not. When the grim up north project is at the stage where I can do away with the fiddle yard boards Dunster is going back upstairs and I might make a model of Minehead! A U shaped layout consisting of fiddle yard - Dunster & Minehead, This puzzle piece is where the goods shed sits. Showing the method of connecting the interior lights. A close up of how the boards slot together and how electrical connection is achieved here. This was complicated on Goathland... Leg construction Signal base housing. And the back of the Red Lion showing Mrs. Sasquatches first attempt at scenic modeling.

Andrew P
Found a few old images, they're not the best but what the hell.. Morning Shaun, you say; they're not the best, but its the contents not the quality that counts, thanks, really good shots mate
emt_911
Shaun You might not consider some of the photos 'the best', but, they show a lot of small details that a lot of people forget to include. Duncan
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted May 21, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 21, 2015 Dunster has been scheduled to make another appearance at the Rogue Valley Railroad Show on November 28-29. I'll need to assemble the layout and check for any problems, carry out maintenance and make a new back scene. If only I had time to build Minehead. Most of the resources are to hand but Goathland is in the middle of a huge upgrade and Queensbury is next on the list. Some retouched pictures for your enjoyment...

emt_911
Shaun. Those pictures really are quality. I had to look at the first one twice to make sure that it was from the layout
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 2, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 2, 2015 ... continued from my other thread... Quickly finished up for the day with cabinet work I grabbed a cold one from the fridge and rushed into the train shed. The last two boards of Goathland were separated from the fiddle yard and a space cleared to store them. The Dunster boards have been dusted down and checked for nasty critters and other unwelcomed guests, then slotted together. I cleaned the rails and had to fix a couple of minor electrical gremlins. Then with stock more suitable for Yorkshire I began running some trains. This afternoon we pulled all the puzzle landscape sections down from the attic and this evening I finished putting it all together! After a couple more cold beers and a nice running session, new batteries were fed into the camera. So in no particular order. It's late so I'm off to bed. Squatch. Hope you enjoyed these, thanks for checking them out.

RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 2, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 2, 2015 Thanks guys! It's a real fun layout. I spent half the evening shunting cattle wagons, pulling signals on and off, opening and closing those gates and the other half doing those images. So much enjoyment I don't think I can sleep. westerner
Just discovered this, and excellent piece of modelling. Back in the 1990's had a few holidays at Minehead and Dunster. Unfortunately being in the winter the railway was not running.
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 2, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 2, 2015 I always enjoy seeing more photos of Dunster. It's just a pity that I'll never see it in the flesh You never know Duncan! I find this layout hard to photograph due I think to it's flatness and that fact that it's much skinnier than Goathland. It's a learning curve I guess, in that once you have progressed to something with depth and curves then realized how much better the trains look when dwarfed by their surroundings you want to move on. It's all down to space though. Just discovered this, and excellent piece of modelling. Back in the 1990's had a few holidays at Minehead and Dunster. Unfortunately being in the winter the railway was not running. Welcome to the thread Westerner. Thanks for your kind comment, I'll do more pics as soon as I get the chance! The Great Bear
Great photos, Shaun. Like the unusual and ground level views; the one looking across the tracks to the platform being my favourite. Will watch out for more Jon
RMweb Premium Sasquatch Posted June 5, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 5, 2015 (edited) Hi Jon, Ground level shots are more realistic I think! Here's a few more based around 1948. 8795 has already been to the paint shop and is seen arriving from Minehead with the 8:01 all stations to Taunton. For some reason the gates haven't been opened for its arrival. One of the passengers is chatting with the driver just for the "drivers eye" view. As they wait for the starter to clear and head off towards Sea Lane Crossing past a train of marshaled cattle empties.
