Sisters (OR) - named after three volcanoes (The Three Sisters) close to town.  Orignally named Faith, Hope, and Charity by early settlers, they are now known as North Sister, Middle Sister, and South Sister. A local companion is Mount Bachelor (mostly known for its ski resort).

Still on "S"

Ecclesfield – Large village north of Sheffield. Its two railway stations were closed in 1954 (Ecclesfield East, South Yorkshire Railway) and 1967 (Ecclesfield West, Midland Railway). A link with Trafalgar: the Reverend Alexander Scott, Nelson's chaplain, is buried in the churchyard.

Kingston upon Hull famous for nothing  :jester:

Didn't it have a private telephone exchange well into the GPO era?

Lavant - charming village in West Sussex, where I watched sugar beet being loaded into minfits in 1967.
