"Anything You Can do, I Can Do Better ! Robinson and Downes.

Recommended Posts

I must admit it nearly had me fooled Allan! It was the lack of a chin sporran that clinched it! Are you really going to post a picture of THAT windmill or can I take my tin helmet off and come out from behind the settee now? :scared:

Regards

Is that real coal or something painted black - looks very effective

It's what was left after I wrapped a lump of coal up in a  towel marked 'hers' and hammered the life out of it with a heavy hammer - but beware, it doesn't work with a towel marked 'his'

Cheers.

Allan

Thanks, I will take note of the fact to use 'her' towel when I can find some coal - we always had a shed full of it when I was young - where have all the coal merchants gone......

Headlines...........

Modeller found battered to death with hammer, head wrapped in a towel marked his.

The victims wife remarked how she would miss his little foibles, particularly his seemingly endless skill of making something out of nothing.s

I've been away for a week in sunnier climes and as usual I've returned to a very 'interesting' thread. How would you explain  the content of this thread to someone who hadn't seen it? Sausage on a turntable, Windy Miller (he really should get that seen to), still no Robinson and great modelling from the master. You couldn't make it up!

I like to prove from time to time on this thread that I do undertake some modelling. The enclosed were mainly built from Scalescenes parts and a butchered Wills engine shed that has been found a new use as a factory. There is still quite a lot to do but the whole layout is around 5X1.

The layout is a micro set in a run down part of West London immediately after the demise of steam.

A few shots showing a road over bridge under construction.

Again, I've use the Wills stone sheets - SSMP 200 - and though these sheets are 80thou thick they can still be bent around right angles as seen on the bridge return walls and piers.

To do this, file a 'V' groove down the back of the fold, flood with solvent which will soften the plastic allowing it to fold easily and without splitting,

Just don't tell Robinson.

Cheers.

Allan

Iain !! Iain...you there Iain ?

Allan said not to tell you how he bends plastic, so you'd better have a look mate !

He's working out how to get out of that bl#%dy windmill as the sails have stopped right across the only door. Allan wouldn't have built a windmill like that! Edited by mullie

I never knew you dealt with track, is this layout for you or for a customer?

No, it's for me, but you can have it !

When you say 'deal' with track Peter, I hope you don't think that I make it when there's perfectly good track available from Peco.

However, don't rule me out as a track maker extraordinare altogether cos I've got 100 years experience behind me founded on the first track I ever made when I was 15 - out of plasticene !!!

Cheers mate.

Post more often !

Got the station platform and goods shed buildered today but the platform has warped due to the surface texturing process involving stippled Pollyfilla, Colron wood dye and Matt black dust coat.

However, I'll soon straighten it out by gluing it down to the baseboard and, if it really plays up, a six inch nail !

Cheers.

Allan.

Nice work Allan - great to see your wonderful buildings all together in a scene. I particularly like the curved platform, the wonderful work on the ventilator on top of the goods office and the back-scene too!

Cheers

John

Dunno what this is supposed to be - brewery, dairy, atomic bomb factory, could be anything, but I'll let you know what when it's finished.

Whetever it ends up as it will stand behind the station yard on the mini-epic. If it'll fit that is...

Cheers.

I can  say that it is not a Atomic Bomb Factory., They where not like that when I worked in them in the 90's. No one in white coats.
