edcayton
Whilst it is understandable that our owner wants to keep its presence felt, I think this is a step too far. It only really affects the first few posts on the page, but all the others are still squashed. Any other thoughts? Ed
Talltim
Mobile version works a treat;)
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 The adverts can be hidden. Click this tiny X icon (which becomes visible only when you mouse over it): This is the result: Martin.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 Not being a grouch, but not everyone can change display options - I use an iTouch for over 60% of my RMweb browsing. I appreciate you are testing, but it's not a good feature for me. Stu
Miss Prism
If turning off the classifieds, how are they turned on again?
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 If turning off the classifieds, how are they turned on again? Same way -- mouse over an invisible icon and click it.
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 Andy, why not put the ad on the left-hand side with the VNC options below it? Martin.
Andy Y
I'll investigate that Martin (it's appropriate for the VNC but not so much for some of the other forum views) but as you know such a seemingly simple concept means unravelling lots of code. Miss Prism
Presumably invisible icons are last week's 'must have fashion' in web design?
RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 Presumably invisible icons are last week's 'must have fashion' in web design? I'm quite happy with them, provided they are where you expect them to be. All the other panels in the right-hand column are the same. They do make the page look cleaner. The problem is that the web designers can easily get too far ahead of the average user. But everything moves on -- you wouldn't want RMweb looking like a typical web page from 1995. Martin. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted May 22, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 22, 2013 It's not the web design, it's the content that matters...
coachmann
Sometimes it takes longer to test something out than it takes someone to jump to premature criticism. Premature anything can be a problem for some....
BG John
I hadn't noticed it until it was mentioned . My brain is trained to ignore most adverts that my software doesn't block .
