Popular Post Nelson Jackson
Hello I have always wanted an oo gauge exhibition layout, with 3 layouts at home that weren't portable. So when we were shopping around in Ikea in Belfast me, my brother and my dad made the decision and bought some 50p chipboard wood, and the layout began. It was only 5 weeks until the exhibition so we were racing against time. The layout wasn't going to based on anywhere in particular, but as a general area in the North East of England. We got the layout finished on time, and our first exhibition went brilliant without any major faults. I helped out with the ballast, and seeing I'm only 14 years old, it's not bad. I'm sorry for the non NE loco, but I will promise the next photos will have proper north eastern locos I'm sorry I haven't got any photos of the full layout, but I will get some more photos soon. What are your opinions of the layout. Bye for now. Edited May 28, 2016 by Nelson Jackson
Markeg
Hi Nelson, Very nicely done. Like the theme too. North eastern. Yea. Now we need some locos from the manufactures to go with the layout. As I model the North east too. I notice in photo 5, above the engine shed an anchor- a Boys Brigade anchor. I am a past boy and leader. What's the connection? Lowlander
Hi Nelson Thanks for the pictures. Well done to you and your Dad. You've made a smashing job of the layout, and all done in only five weeks. Excellent. Thanks Again Stephen

Steve O.
Hi Nelson, You have the scenery colours and the station building just right for the north east. Well done, especially on a tight schedule. Cheers, Steve.

Our first exhibition was inside 1 of the 4 halls inside a church, and the hall that we were in belonged to the BB for there use and just had the anchor on the wall. Thanks Nelson

DougN
Gees that looks fantastic as a small NER layout. The loco shed looks really nice is that the one from TMC? All of the buildings look appropriate. The colour of your grass and fields look great. Well done.

LNER4479
I helped out with the ballast, and seeing I'm only 14 years old, it's not bad. 'Not bad'? That ballasting is brilliant... oops, sorry - 'way cool, dude' Keep posting. If that's what you can manage in 5 weeks then imagine what the next 5 years could bring!!

If that's what you can manage in 5 weeks then imagine what the next 5 years could bring!! Thanks We have plans to extend the layout, but they are still on the drawing board. I'm currently scratch building an LMS brake van, but after that then it's back with the layout.

If that's what you can manage in 5 weeks then imagine what the next 5 years could bring!! Your layout is fantastic, with loads of atmoshpere, well done! I particularly like the grass effect. Your ballasting is sick and I'd be stoked if I can make mine as realistic.
Nelson Jackson
Hello everyone, Here is a birthday update, yes it's my birthday and yes I'm now 15. Yay! Now on with the layout, we brought out the layout today to check everything was fine and ready for our next exhibition on 24th August. The points are operated via the "wire in the tube" method, This method is very simple and reliable. Next are just a couple of photos from today, An ivatt waits at the station with a working train. A photo of the overall layout measuring 10ft x 2 1/2ft Another view of the layout, don't worry about the sign we have got a new one. A Hornby L1 waits on she'd for the next working. An LNER a5 waits for passengers to board, the coaches are Hornby's suburban ones, and look brilliant. Another view. Any comments or opinions would be great, That's it for now until next time, bye. Nelson Jackson
Just a couple more photos, any colour disorder is thanks to the iPads camera. The grass is garden hanging basket liner which is very effective. An L1 approaches the station while a steam roller crosses the bridge, the back scene is actually plain light blue. Behind the engine shed. The new "please do not touch" sign to keep those sticky fingers at bay. With thanks to John Pollock for making the sign. The end of the line. Will get more photos of rolling stock and the layout when we are at our next exhibition.
Obi-Jiff Kenobi
The grass is garden hanging basket liner which is very effective. You can say that again! I'm impressed by the whole layout, but I think this grass really finishes it off very well.
Nelson Jackson
Hi guys, here is a lunch time update. Over the next few weeks I will be posting photos of the type of rolling stock we use on our layout. First off are a couple of wagons that I have weathered, And a coach I recently weathered. "Just for laughs" don't worry we don't run Hush Hush on our layout, it was just to test the motor. We are currently stuck with a problem, and that is that our layout hasn't got a name as such, so I want to see if any of you can think of a name for our layout. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, must invest in a proper camera. Any comments or opinions would be great and helpful.
Mark 37
What a great layout! Can you tell me a little about the station building (manufacturer, cost, supplier)? It looks like its just the thing I'm looking for. Best regards, Mark

It looks like its just the thing I'm looking for. Best regards, Mark Hi mark, The station building is a Bachmann station and based on goathland, and Is only available from TMC the engine shed is also from them. Here is a link, it is very expensive, but I think we agree it looks the part. And is very well detailed. http://www.themodelcentre.co.uk/44-012z/022y/prod_15.html Thanks for the comment. hornbyandbf3fan
Wow! What a layout. How do you connect your electrics together?
Nelson Jackson
Wow! What a layout. How do you connect your electrics together? Assuming you mean the electrical connection between the scenic part and the fiddleyard, this was done with a electrical socket, I can't explain it, but if you can wait until the 24th August, I will take a photo while we are at the exhibition.
