  1. Thank you newbryford, I’ll have a look the next time it’s anywhere near the test track ( as photographed), The set was purchased for a future layout so no major Rush in that department… Just now hoping to get some hunt couplings between the T-1 coach and the Loco ( unless anyone knows of a coupling bar which represents a taught screwlink as per the real items(?). The other main reason for the rather hasty purchase was the recent career change ( as previously mentioned) seeing me work alongside the real-deal, I actually did my first depot driving Move in ‘TP04’ after ordering set 02, how the starts had aligned… I’ll just close with a rather festive shot of 68031 towards the end of last year.
  2. Managed to track down a chip today and duly fitted into the DT, the chip didn’t like to be programmed however works flawlessly on ‘3’ so no major issues… over all I’m extremely impressed, one minor issue is that I’m missing an ‘Axle box cover ‘ from one wheel, other then that I’m over the moon great work accurascale, captured the coaches perfectly.
  3. Just a quick question, I’m looking to source a DCC chip for the DT. I know it has to be a ‘4-function’ chip. I'm just looking to confirm it’s a 21pin, from what I’ve seen from videos / pictures it appears to be a 21pin (?)
  4. Had my dispatch email come through about lunch time. I’m really looking forward to the next couple of days now. 👍🏻
  5. 68031 is seen after just arriving on depot for a re-fuel. The loco has just arrived during a driver training run, and the driver is seen looking back to check the tail lamps are correctly set, the fitter is also seen getting to grips with the usual tests ready to fill in the relevant paperwork.
  6. So glad I decided to pre-order a set after I started working on the real deal early November. so I won’t be High on the delivery list but honestly I can’t wait, seeing photos filter through show just how much work has gone into them… Little Felix will finally have something to pull ( Felix was actually purchased after the coaches were ordered 🤣).
  7. From all at SDRM, I’d just like to thank not only yourself Duncan but also the rest of the Shirebrook team. we hope you all enjoyed your weekend in Pickering and your assistance throughout the weekend was much appreciated. Regards Jamie
  8. So I’ve been thinking about this model since it’s announcement, something just doesn’t sit right with the Livery on the Power cars. Don’t get me wrong usually I’m a sucker when it comes to weird and unusual Liveries, however this livery is doing nothing for me and I Think I’ve recently figured out why… I can’t help but think the livery would suit an Azuma (800/2)set more then the HST, let’s think about this for a second; when you look at the vinyls on an Azuma Driving car they already have Red / silver vinyls which almost Mimic the Parabolic curve of the A4s running Board… I think the Platinum Jubilee Livery could almost complement the body shape of the Driving coach (If done correctly). I’m not sure a full unit would suit the Livery, however, with 5 coaches in a train pack this would almost certainly be cheaper ( for the customer) then a ‘prototypical length’ HST set… My first thought is why aren’t they using one of their Newest toolings, then I remembered, The HSTs are of course being re-tooled… while this isn’t my Photograph and I’ll remove if required, this comes from the Train sim community ( Blast Pipe Productions) and shows a Fictional but almost believable ‘ homage’ Livery used to good effect on an Azuma… While I wish Hornby well with this release It’s not something I’ll be Picking up ( I’ve now gone fully to N gauge and of course funds are rather Tight at the minute).
  9. Not for me personally, I wonder if it’s linked to the success of the ‘Taw valley’ release ( as mentioned above at least taw valley is based of a real loco). it’s priced out of the reach of the ‘ joe public’ customer base range, it’s either going to sell well or end up as bargain bin material.
  10. Here's my Azuma finally having a chance to stretch her legs... at my local club.
  11. I’ve just got back from what has been a fantastic day. I made the trip from Scarborough specifically to see the layout and boy I’m glad I did. The shear size and scale of the layout just blew me away and isn’t something you’ll fully appreciate without seeing the layout in person. I’m involved with a number of O gauge layouts but Heaton Lodge Junc’ is a whole different ball game and is a Project that Simon and the rest of the team should be proud of. Please if you have been thinking about going to see the layout please do ( up north or somewhere closer to home) you won’t regret it. It was nice speaking to you Simon@HeatonLodge40 and I hope the rest of the afternoon went without hitch. Great work once again and I look forward to following the development of the layout going forward. Jamie
  12. These are a couple of mine which have all been taken on the NYMR. and finally my favourite shot from the summer/ autumn gala in 2019
  13. here’s my latest photo, something a little different from my normal style of photography.
  14. Here’s two shots of 37401 and 37402 resting at Scarborough on Saturday evening before returning back to ‘base’.
  15. I’ve been a long time fan of the ‘Forza’ series. I’ve recently started painting cars in my spare time on horizon 4. here’s A few of my latest projects… these two are our racing team colours, these are uniform between the group however each member has their own little touch which they add. in my case it’s the hidden honeycomb which can be seen on the Peugeot. this Porsche is my new ‘revamped’ group paint style which will become my normal personal choice for all future cars ( including the 2 two above.) it looks like a tricky paint job but in reality it’s considerably easier to sort then the hidden honeycomb. and finally ( for now) this Shelby Mustang paint group is based loosely from a photograph I came across a few months back. Ive got plenty more pictures to show so I’ll check through them and start filtering them on to here as and when time allows. Jamie
  16. I honestly can’t believe I’ve just found this thread. I’ll be the first to admit that my photo style is to capture more the train rather then just the loco, however I’m hoping to share a couple of my photos for inspiration. here we see tornado leaving York heading towards Edinburgh (?) taken on the 19th of June. Next we see 68 033 stabled in the Scarborough Bay platforms at York. again taken the 19th June. finally we see 47 614 and 47 828 on their final approach to Scarborough taken on the 10th July. I’m going to look through my photographs And hopefully I’ll be able to share more shortly for now stay safe jamie
  17. Well here she is at long last… I’m so glad I ordered a set now, you really don’t realise how small they are till you see them in person. now just to wait till I can get to the model club to actually test run her. Turns out it’s quite hard to get a full length shot while the sun is working against you. and finally I thought I’d pose the unit next to Dapols fantastic A4s ( this one was purchased through sentimental reasons unfortunately it was as a spare and repairs loco but I did only part with £30 for her…) you really do see where the inspiration for the Azumas livery came from… for the price I’m over the moon. Here’s hoping Kato decide to do some of the other liveries ( either that or I save up for another set and apply Electra’s fantastic vinyls as seen previously within this thread). great work Kato .
  18. It appears the Azuma sets are getting closer... This is a link that got sent to me by a friend which shows some more shots of the Azuma set. ( the website is all in Japanese unfortunately. https://www.1999.co.jp/m/10741650 The attached shots below are all taken from the website above ( I will remove if required...) looking at these shots I’m glad I’ve ordered a set now just have to built a suitable layout though...
  19. Evening JeffP see my Sliver fox psot a few pages back. I purchased an unnamed single chimney, early crest version and purchased a white metal double chimney from a model shop in manchester (JPL ?) . I didn't do the work myself but i believe the chimney came off a lot easier then expected
  20. Mine hasn't been fully test run yet. however from what i've heard and read they don't do too well on trains with some struggling to pull 5 coaches :/ fortantly the layout(s) mine will spend most of its working life on will be light engine movements only... Once our club rooms open up i'll be able to give her a proper test (when ever that may be)
  21. I think the linkages are just the small ones attached to the lubricators rather then the full linkages which is a massive shame as its quite a prominent feature on the firemans side of the loco...
  22. I first of all must thank my fellow club member and my friend Ian Who completed the work shown below as without his help I’m not sure what the A4s current state would be... here are a couple of shots of my A4 which started life as H7-A4-007A ( unnumbered ,single chimney and streamlined corridor tender). Additional work done to the locomotive includes. • Cab handrails fitted. • Whitemetal double chimney fitted( The plastic single chimney came off easily without causing damage to either the body work or the chimney),New chimney purchased from JPL models. •Streamlined tender top painted correctly with the green continuing up and other the curve. • nameplates, foxes, workplates, shedplate and Elizabethan Headboard added, purchased from Fox transfers • Numbers and warning flashes again purchased from fox transfers added. Still to do... • fit sound chip ( will be ordered shortly) • fit crew • fit headlamps • fit AWS protector plate behind front coupling. • and we may have something planned for the missing reverser linkage on the drivers side. now for the pictures ( please ignore the background... and I can get more shots if requested). I can go into the reasoning for choice of loco/ headboard if requested but I’ve been rambling on a little too long. okay It’s a shame some things have been missed or left ( lubricator linkages , cab handrails and reverser linkage) and I was slightly annoyed at first. However for £750 she’s Fantastic and I’m over the moon with how she is currently. once the outside world is back to normality she will be gracing the exhibition circuit on Ian’s own layout ( Falcon Road) and club layout (Durham Street) so please do keep an eye out and come and say hello. can I also just confirm that the front guard irons ( which the cylinder drain pipes are connected to ) are meant to be loose from the body work.
  23. I'm also slightly annoyed at the fact I Ordered a streamlined corridor tender, unnumbered version with a single chimney under the impression that a Double chimney would come supplied with the model as mentioned on a previous page within this thread... This was not included and after ringing Hatton's I got told that because the removal of the chimney damages the body (fair point) however why wasn't this mentioned at all until the model arrived on my doorstep. They also don't keep spare chimneys in stock. I'm also slightly disappointed that the Lubricator linkage isn't included on the Fireman's side of the loco. I'm going to mention reverser linkage as well as this is present on the A3s but not the A4. I've also purchased hand rail knobs from another competitor as well as a Double chimney from a second competitor which are now being added by a close friend while its getting named and Numbered and we may have something in mind for the reverser linkage. I'm slightly annoyed and i'm now about £15 down. However don't get me wrong I'm happy I picked one up and as mentioned you have no chance of getting another O gauge A4 for anywhere near the same price tag, Once my model has been completed I'll post some shots on this thread
  24. I've just donated as well, Fantastic Idea Andy (and team) for a fantastic cause... jamie
