manna
G'Day Folks A bit more work on the B1, seemed a shame to cover the 'Camo' paintwork, but I've forced myself to cover it with 'Apple Green' and a bit of black & white paint to. Not looking to bad. With Hatton's sale, I've grabbed a GWR version of the O4, I'll be putting it back into it's LNER livery. manna 9
manna
G'day Folks. Over a month since I last posted, and already down to page 4 !! Not a lot happening, working on the layout, kinda lost interest with building loco's at the moment, haven't touched the B1 or C1 since the last post, doing a bit with the cylinders and valve gear, and as usual, started another loco, doing bits in dribs and drabs. I had a spare (Hornby) 2-8-0 chassis laying around, which I kept looking at, then one day I lined up the valve gear off of a D49, thinking a O2 might be possible, then everything exploded.....a P1 ?? a quick dash out to the shed and back with a Very old A3 body, a bit of hacking and bashing and we have this........... manna

manna
G'day Folks 4470's bodyshell, is one of the first 'Flying Scotsman's' ever produced, I bought it secondhand in 1970, when I moved from BR(E) to LNER, seeing that everybody had 4472, I changed mine to 4470, even built a new tender, it stayed like that until a few years ago, so it's lived longer than the real one, I have a couple of A1 and A3's bodies, but that one is the closest, when I started to cut into the body, it was cracking, it's so old and brittle. I still have the nameplates for 'Great Northern' she will live again. manna
manna
G'Day Folks Not a lot happening, been putting down a floating floor, but there has been a smidgen of advancement on the P1. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and lets hope Hornby come up with the goods in 2019. manna

manna
G'day Folks First update for 2019, and .......... still no progress on the B1, C1,and P1, But, progress on the Tender drives, ( to BL00DY hot to do much, even with Air Con), the axle boxes, again have been ground off, new sides and axle boxes fitted, basic body shell made, just a case of the top being fitted to the, Err top, to cover the motor, then it's time for the flare's. manna
Londontram
Hi Terry all looking good, if you don't mind me asking on those tenders what axle box and spring castings do you use?
manna
G'Day Folks Hi, Londontram, A few years back a bag of mixed axleboxes was offered on E-Bay, for a couple of quid, I put in a bid, no one else did, the only trouble was I have no idea who's they are, all told there were about 50, I know some are LMS and there are diesel ones as well, but now I've used all the LNER ones (about 40). I'll have to keep an eye out for some more. manna
RMweb Gold chris p bacon Posted January 17, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 17, 2019 If you only use them for cosmetic reasons then I might have an alternative for you....leave it with me,

cypherman
Hi all, Manna I wonder if you have seen this manufacturer and magazine company. http://www.amercom-hobby.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=63 . These are their pages for locomotives. Now they are a mix of 00 and n gauge There are approximately 60 00 engines here. They are just display models but I have found the a wonderful source of parts, boilers and body shells to use. I think you may find some of them useful for the engines you build. Here are a few pictures of an old Hornby A3 I redid using bits from their Flying Scotsman. Sorry the quality of the pictures are bit bit grainy. manna
G'Day Folks Yes I have a couple of those loco's that I'm going to have a 'Play' with later. They are not that common in Oz, although they did sell in here, I had difficulty getting the ones I wanted. Plenty of GWR, the A2, was the hardest, I had to write to Amercon to get one. manna
manna
G'Day Folks Busy days, at the moment, I've got the wife in hospital, having a cancer cut out of her leg, all good, home tomorrow, but I have been doing a bit on the P1, built up the cylinders, made up a front pony truck, from stuff from the spares box and generally trying to fit everything together. manna 1 2
Atso
Hi Manna, My best wishes to your wife and I hope that she makes a speedy recovery. The P1 is looking excellent! As always, you're doing a lovely job but maybe a little big for Edgware?
Londontram
Sorry Terry been incommunicado for a while and am now only just catching up on some of my followed threads. Sorry to hear about your wife I hope she's on the mend now. Locos still coming along nicely but I might have to keep off your thread now as every time I see all the progress you've made despite all adversity it makes me ashamed of my lack of progress. Keep up the good work, Steve Edited February 21, 2019 by Londontram
manna
G'day Folks Thank you for the replies, The wife is now on the mend, she's had the staples out of her leg (approx 15) and has a hole the size of a Lemon in her leg and about 8 mm deep, but at least they've got it all out, she now has the wounds dressed twice a week for the next couple of months. Nothing much happening on the loco front, but I have been out in the shed, the cutting by Mill Hill, has been finished, and has been painted LNER green, a 3' long embankment has also been built opposite the goods shed and again painted in LNER green (test pot, from Bunnings) Some of the buildings from my old snowbound Mill Hill are being refurbished, with new slate roofs and paint, I'll put some pics up on my 'Edgware GN' layout site here on RMWEB, very shortly. manna 3
manna
G'Day Folks Time for an update methinks ! The wife is getting better every day, Dr's pleased with her progress. My brother from England has come over for a visit, and bought me some 'goodies' a motor-less Airfix N2, another Wrenn R1, (I want the chassis) for a J4.a Great Central tender for the B1, a couple of J50 brass fold up chassis (from Chris P Bacon) and a 0-8-2 kit built chassis with motor, it's very close to a LNER R1, which is whats going on top, a start has been made. Here's a couple of pics. manna
RMweb Gold chris p bacon Posted March 5, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 5, 2019 3 minutes ago, manna said: a couple of J50 brass fold up chassis (from Chris P Bacon) aaaahhh so that's where they went! I'm looking forward to see how you get on with them, (all positive comments so I've more on order) there should be a simple instruction sheet with them, if not I'll send it over.
manna
G'Day Dave I had them sent to my son, but as I said, my brother bought them over, I'm going to use them on a couple of J6's. Yes you did include the instructions. manna Edited March 5, 2019 by manna
JamieR4489
I'm looking forward to seeing the R1; it's something you don't often see modelled which is a shame because I think its a very nice looking class. Jamie
jwealleans
Mick Nicholson scratchbuilt one for Gresley Beat, but I suspect that's so long ago it was in the archive, which has now disappeared. 1
