When I built platform 1,canopy,

I had 2 choices...........................to go with Box profile, or Corrugated profile.........

Corrugated profile.was choosen, as it looked better,in the model form, even though, the real can o' pea's, are of box, profile.

Here shewn,  is a sample of Box Profile.........

Taking a flat canopy, after spraying the brass fret black.

Measure, halve way, then, fold to the angle you want.

So, Platform base's.........

The "Core " of the platform is extruded foam, ............ not your polystyrene packing stuff. :nono:

Then, two layer's of Balsa Wood, were attached,1 top, 1 bottom, with PVA,

post-13585-0-94033700-1397214862_thumb.jpg

The Peco concrete side's were then glued to a position, that the platform edging stones, were 1/32.inch above the, glued balsa.

This allows me to fit the "Bobble Stone" tiles, that adorn most platform's these day's.

They are provided for the Visually Impaired/Blind person's.

I then, lay a sheet of 1/32 inch Basa strip,as the final platform surface, spraying, with Sea Grey paint.......

A groove is cut, behind the "Booble stone Tile's to allow the inset of a long Yellow line, made from Evergreen strip.

Final 1/32.inch Balsa.

Most of the top covering,of corruagted profile,( I used Wills, plasticard), have been roughly cut (13.ish)

for their position,on top of the base canopy.

The base canopy, was made from 5mm. foamboard and shaped,to the profile of platform 3.

Moorings',

Today, am going to look at how the canopy,of platform 2/3. is supported.

Like the curvature of the front edge of platform 3, is appears as an.............. optical illusion.

The leading edge of platform 2 canopy, is easy, striaght as a dye,

with the support stanchion's,in line and equally spaced.....

The curved overhang of platform 3, the stanchion's,are equally spaced, but, are they in line ?

The curved overhang of the canopy,is soley supported by cross beam's,that run the width,of both platform's.

Platform 3,canopy, looking, South to North.
