mark axlecounter
Not a lot going on but one thing that keeps rearing it's head is the facing point I am in two minds weather to leave it as it is or do I move it to where the buffers are. I don't know Mark Edited July 1, 2015 by mark axlecounter
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted July 1, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2015 I guess that it is already bugging you a bit and will do sooner as time goes on. I say remove it now when you have the time as you (same as me) will have precious little spare time soon
mark axlecounter
I has bugged me so now I have decided to make it a trailing point. Might use it for banking or as a cripple line

mark axlecounter
Hi all, Just an update Bucks lane is still going strong, With bits slowly comming along. The main thing I wanted to sort out was the back scene. I build some half relief buildings then when I am happy with them I shall put some pics of big town scenes behind them to give the impression its got depth. I have decided to leave the facing piont in and use it as a sand drag so trains can still use the station as a train is going over the slip. mark axlecounter
Just to keep Bucks Lane up to date, Time has been short working due to family commitments, But I have been able to get the ground signals working,Then all what needs to be done is get them working with the motors then thats another job done. Only another 5,000 jobs to do before the Heywood show in March. I'm hoping to get some work done when Heywood model railway club have there open day on the 12th of December. The issues I had regarding the now facing point what was the loco stabling point is now been left as it was. So I can sunt a train into the goods yard from the main and still bring a train into the station. The L&Y did have thing like this, But it was rare. As soon as I can I will put some pics on here showing what I mean and also some more of the layout slowly progressing. Mark
mark axlecounter
Just an update on bucks lane. I have had that dam facing point on my mind so tonight I decided to change it to a trailing point. Yes I know I thought I could deal with it but in the end I wanted to use it as a cripple or bank road. I built a new point last week and tested it, so I ripped up the old facing point and replaced it with the new trailing point. Here is some pics of the progress so far. The next job is to paint and weather the track then ballast, I am going to use ballast magic ( a first for me )
mark axlecounter
I have moved the signal box to where the old head shunt was. I tried the point last night at the club with a loco with finescale wheels and it all worked fine. Here are some more pics from last night next time I am down at the club I will be painting the point and doing the scenery. Mark
RMweb Premium Jason T Posted December 22, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 22, 2015 Good choice Mark, I thought that facing point would annoy you enough to junk it eventually.
mark axlecounter
Good choice Mark, I thought that facing point would annoy you enough to junk it eventually. It did buddy. Every time I looked at it that dam point I kept thinking I can cope with it, but in the end I bit the bullet and replaced it.It has better potential now because I can use it as a cripple road or a bank siding. But I managed to save the old point, so I can use it when I eventually make bucks lane a roundy layout. But that's in the future. Hope you are ok Jason how's the little one doing. mark axlecounter
Well it's been a long time since I did any updates on here due to home life and work. Hopefully I can get back to comming on here more often and updating Bucks Lane. When I built BL it was going to be a end to end layout with cassettes but I was'nt happy with only running 3 coach trains. So I decided to make BL roundy round so I can run longer trains and enjoy shunting in the yard. I was going to show BL at Heywood model railway show in March but we had to cancel the show, that meant BL would have another year to get it ready for the show so the end boards got put into sortage so the construction of the rest of the layout could be built. The new end boards and fiddle yard boards are now done ,and as it stands now BL is 23ft by 9ft. I've created a monster I have decided to build my own points and keep to using smp track in the fiddle yards simply because I have a lot still spare track new end boards and fiddle yard boards are now done When I get chance next monday (club night ) I will take some pics and put them on here as the layout progresses. mark axlecounter
Thanks for the likes, the thing with bucks lane is what it was built for , running full length trains and shunting in the small goods yard. Now the problem is I need to finish the buildings and the scenery so I need to pull my finger out and do the work.
