enginelane
thanks to Pylonman and my mate Neil the folldlight towers are in place. The layout is an asset to the club and it's overall appearance and attention to detail is down to your determination and drive not to settle for anything but the best that could be produced. It's a layout worthy of being exhibited in any venue
RMweb Premium DRS Crewe On A Mission Posted August 28, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 28, 2014 Once again fantastic modelling! I like all of the photos but my favourites are the bottom two. They pay very close attention to detail and give off a realistic vibe as to what may be seen today on the railways. The entrance clearly labelled with signs is fantastic and just like reality. Then the fences in the background of the photo adds realism because you see the fences the majority of the time now near any railway lines. Then the grass, weeds and slightly overgrown trackside looks great with attention to detail. Also the photo of the warehouse is great. It pays attention to the weathering on the outside of the warehouse and the weeds alongside the line side where you would expect to see trains running slow and really gives a fantastic look and effect. Great work everyone keep it up!

enginelane
How did the "photo shoot" go chaps? looking forward to spotting it in the mags soon.... Was a more complicated process than I thought it would be but learnt a lot about depths of fields and how to compose interesting shots. Initial draft of text completed and awaiting the images being returned to add suitable captions. All involved very pleased with the process and likewise looking forward to seeing the final result Edited September 1, 2014 by enginelane
enginelane
Nothing like having a camera pointed at a layout to show up all the bits you thought were finished but in reality could do with more work and so new list made from last Friday's shoot. One major area is the scrapyard is all fenced off and rolls of barbed wire everywhere except - no gate on the track into yard! Yes it's only a model but needs a gate so before the Leeds Show in October a gate will appear. Will be using this image as inspiration for the model which will be made to rotate so can be open or closed or daringly just ajar Need to do more work on the scrapyard track and surroundings as too neat so looks like a session with a fine chopper will be order to make up little scrap pieces Images from the Cattlewater Branch Edited September 4, 2014 by enginelane

enginelane
Spent a pleasant 30 minutes snipping up minute pieces of plastic to create scrap waste be be placed around the scrapyard rails. Nearly successfully wired up the arc welding flashing unit.

enginelane
After a brief layoff for work commitments, writing up the magazine article and drawing breath it's now all go for the layout's away first full 2 day away exhibition at Leeds in October. Work to be completed includes adding another siding to the industrial branch to increase flexibility in running trains and reducing stock handling, commissioning the signalling system, installing the plug in sockets so operators are not doing a maypole dance with controller wires. There will be some new liveried stock and the team looking forward to running trains

hammer73
while the weather was good on sunday decided to try and get an extra line sorted for the curve boards which bring the loco's rouns from the fiddle yard for Troutons. The extra two lines will give extra capacity for contianer and scrap yard movements and free up the fiddle yard for more main line running.
