I have been busy making a information board. I have made it on hinges so it will fold up as a shutter in front of the layout.

My first plaque in it pride and place at the bottom right hand corner (EXMOOR RAIL 2014) back at the end of August, thanks to ExmoorDave.

Hi Ray

I like the info boards very much - a great idea and very helpful for the public. Also, thanks for putting the "Exmoor Rail 2014"  plaque onto the front - a very good exhibition I've been told........!!!!!!

Hi

I am getting Hounslow Sidings ready for Beaminster this Saturday 17th January.

Will be picking Mudmagnet up early Saturday morning.

If you are there please come and say hi.

Looking forward to a day out, although I should really be laying track! Oh, well will need to crack on Sunday (after getting out on my mountain bike)!

I'll bring my 08's for a run out!

Oh, and the camera, with thick coat, gloves, hat and hot water bottle - could get cold standing at the front operating!

Hi All

Richard (Mudmagnet) and I had a fantastic Day at Beaminster Today. We left Barnstaple at 07.30 in the rain and when we got to the other side of South Molton it was very frosty. We got to Beaminster about 09.10. We was shone were we was to set up, so we unloaded the car and commenced on setting up. all was done by 09.50 10, minutes before opening time. Richard and I thought that Hounslow Sidings went down very well and also met some people that know Hounslow.

We did have a great day yesterday!

First time that I had helped to set and operate, unfornately tipping the main board on the end and some of the 'loose snow' ended up on the end! Sorry Ray!

Had a great time operating, literally moving wagons backwards and forwards. Not taxing, but enjoyable nonetheless!

Anyway, a few photos from me, but noticed that some are similar to Rays' so apologies for the repitition. Did give me new 08 a run, which was great. Just needs a few finishing bits and weathering.

When I was exhibiting Hounslow Sidings at Beaminster last month I got myself two Second hand Airfix military kits, I have had ago at one of them and put them on my Dapol kit lowmac

wagons.  The vehicles was tied down with cotton and them sprayed with Photo Mount glue then sprinkled with snow on top.

Completely unrelated but interesting I hope...................

Under the scheme to improve the capacity at Waterloo and the SW suburban area (currently under going surveys and scheme development), the real Hounslow will eventually get a siding back (well a loop actually) - I think it will be on the Up side London end of the station so Down trains can terminate and run into the siding to clear. This is designed to reduce the number of Waterloo - Waterloo "roundies" releasing pathways between Barnes & Waterloo..............

I love what you've done. In the 1960's my great aunt and uncle lived in Maswell Park Road and their garden backed onto the railway line. I used to watch the shunting as a young boy. My mum used to say the engines were doing a dance.

My father (a career railwayman) lived at the same house in the 1950's and remembers seeing the only named WD 2-8-0 (Vulcan) from the same vantage point. He also saw a T9 shunting the yard.

I have very fond memories of the Hounslow Station area.

Hi Nigel

That is a great bit of history, I bet you wonted to be a engine driver when you was at the bottom of the garden. That was my ambition when I was at school and it very nearly came true, as I was a fireman at Feltham, but I did drive a few locos with the help of my driver, unfortunate I had to leave as Feltham close in 1967. It was very hard work.
