Well I have finished the water tank tower, It was made in the same way as the station and goods shed buildings.

I have put grass on top as the tank was taken down before 1948 there would be grass and weeds growing on top. Have got to glue down and bedding in.

Hello Andy hear is some pice's

The glue is still wet from putting the grass down.

HI Ray

You have done a cracking job on the water tank, do like the grass on the top!, mind you would be a to mow that !

I really like this layout and is going to look amazing when it's finished.

Keep up the good work.

Hi

I have had ago of making my own trees, I got some garden wire and wound three or four strands together, I did about eight of these and then wound them all together leaving branch's out as you go, I then unwound the branch's to make the small ones, if you want more branch's then ad more wire until it looks right for you. I then mixed up some Polly filler with PVA glue don't mix it to stiff then use an old brush and paint the filler all over the tree. The one in the second picture was the first one I made. I have put some strands from electrical wire to make thin branch's but I think they are to flimsy.

I am going to paint them today, will post some pic's when finished.

agreed. you've got the roots of a nice addition to the layout there. I will need to branch off into this line of modelling in the future, and will leave this in my bookmarks for further reference. :)

Hi fender

Glade you like the trees it is my first attempt of making them and I don't think it will be the last know I have the bug of making them, and it has been a learning curve in building this layout. Thank you for your comments.

I have been busy putting in the fence and the trees I made the other day. The fence is edged brass with the spear head from Mainly Trains, I painted them grey primer and then matt black with the air brush then glued pins on each end, then made a hole to put the into with glue.

Hi Andy

Thanks for your comment Andy.  I had to go will the winter scene because of the tree on the backscene and as Richard said I will it as a frosty morning.

The fencing and trees make a big change to the appearance. Looking great !

Adding a little frost will really make the layout feel 'cold' and wintery !

Hi Richard

Yes they do and I am very pleased in the transformation of the way this layout is coming and with a little frosty morning look.

Hi All

Yesterday I have been working on the coal Bunkers, I made out of C&L plywood sleepers cut to various lengths and glue together with PVA glue. The coal is C&Ls held down with latex glue and the coal dust is C&L very small ballast again held down with latex glue.

Today I have been planting the grass under the fence in front of the station building and also the Ivy on the fence.

I have taken a load of photo's so you can see Hounslow sidings as it is at the moment.

Please give my your thoughts so far.

Update

I have been able to do any modelling this few weeks as I had to go to Cornwall as father in law was in hospital.

Now that I am home I have been busy on the foot bridge that goes over the track at the sector plate end again. The side supports I have made from 1.2mm tee section from plastruct no 90561.

In the next two pics I have air brushed with a light grey then a light spray of dark grey and a light spray of brown.
