The building is made of plasti card and the windows are etch brass from GT models.

This picture is of the building before it is in it's place.

The other four pictures is with the building in place, the mirror makes it look bigger.

I have to do the roof tiles and then it will need painting. I am very pleased the way it has turned out as it is my second time of scratch building and it is a model of Hounslow station building.

The station building looks great Ray.

Looks even better in the flesh - seen it tonight!

The placement against the 'mirror' is very effective.

Hi

I have finished the station building.

The tiles I made by drawing strips the length of a tiles on a A4 paper then marked out the width of the tiles and then I scanned it so I don't have to draw them out again. I cut the strips out and sliced the tile so they are still on the strip as you can see in the photo below, then I glued the strips on the roof with PVA glue stating from the bottom, and so the tiles over lap and stager the tile so they are not in line.

post-3746-0-90300400-1396610007_thumb.jpg

I painted the roof tiles with water colours, mix black and white together made it watery so it will soak into the paper.

The brick work I first put on a thinned down very light grey for the mortar and wiped off the access, then I dry brushed various colours of browns and a dry coat of very dark blue. The rest was just straight forward painting, then dry brushed with black all over.

I have not glued it down as yet, so I can work on the back scene behind the building.

The photos have come out a bit dark. (have to do better with my photography next time). can't win them all.

I will have to finish the goods shed, hope it come's out like the station building.

WOW Ray, That Station Building has come out well and photographs so well against the Mirror you would never know its half relief.

I also like the entry to the yard and the slope down to ground level.

Well done Ray and more pics soon I hope.

Hi Ray

Excellent work......Really impressed......

I really like the leafless tree......

It really adds to the scene as they are so rarely modelled accurately but builds on the slightly run down atmosphere ....

Keep up the good work

Cheers Bill

Hi All

I am looking for a body shell of a 2 bil to put behind the platform. Is there anybody out there now where I can get one.

I have been in contact with Peters spares and got no luck.

Not caught up with this thread for a while,
and I like the progress you've made Ray

As you know, I'm a fan of using mirrors on small layouts
They really do make the area look so much bigger
Are you going to build some edging / framing on the front of the layout
- it's what Barry Norman & Iain Rice describe as a "proscenium arch"

That always helps hide the edge of the mirror
Also, what else will you do to further disguise the join?
I was thinking maybe a little bit of ivy on the building....

Really like the painting on the building too
Can't believe you haven't scratchbuilt more :)

Cheers matey - all great stuff

Hi

This is the goods shed as it is at the moment just put in place to take photos. I have made itin the same way as the station building, with plasticard and using Wills brick work flexi plasticard, I have done some painting of the mortar and then I will have to dry brush the bricks with various colours of browns. I have to put in the window frames at the back and then brick card as well and put on the roof with the tiles in the same way as done with the station building. Still have lots to do.

I will be making a office attach to the right hand side of the goods shed with steps coming down the front of the unloading platform.

Hi Marc

I was going to put a iron railing fence with some trees and a bit of greenery in the foreground.

The Ivy on the building is a good idea, but Hounslow did not have any plant work on the building, maybe modellers licence.

Thank you for your input and comments Marc

Hope to see you at Barnstaple in July.

Hi Ray, I know its NOT prototypical but I do fee that Marc's suggestion of a little Ivy will help hide the join, especially from front on views.

Good's shed looks the Dogs mate, what will you do for interior colour / brickwork?
