We are hoping for a tag on order should Scotrail order new stuff.

If this does happen lets hope the right number of vehicles are purchased initally because there won't be spare coaches lying about to be returned to service if they get the numbers wrong like there are now.

A goodly number of pictures have appeared around the social media of this loco as it made a round trip to Cornwall and back deputising for a FGW 57/6.  The unusual still brings out the cameramen even in the wee small hours.

FGW has four 57/6s of which three are required for the operation each day.One leads the sleeper in each direction and rests through the day at either Long Rock or Old Oak Common and the third is required for the shunt moves between Paddington - Old Oak and back.  FGW found themselves with two of their four unavailable and spot-hired the NR machine.

Comments have been made about the yellow livery clashing with the pink doors but better that than no loco at all!

As far as I'm aware DRS are supplying traction for the sleeper, they in turn seem to have hired the NR traction, so it's possible DRS 57s will put in an appearance if the situation persists. There is a shortage of operational 57 bogies at the moment, that's effectively what's taken the usual 57s out of action.

My only request is that there is a locomotive available, that it is suitable for the task and that on at least 99% of occasions it performs the task without a delay-inducing problem.  Chocolate and cream class 68s, anyone?  ;)  But their ETH Index is only 60 :(

OUR Pz - Pad trip is at 100% so far this year....... !

Long may that continue!  I have two PAD-PNZ and one PNZ-PAD trips booked and paid for.  The "extra" down is on the cushions and will be balanced by a daytime up run.

All the NR 57s may be sold to DRS soon so any may appear.......

More than likely NR have released the 57/3s to DRS as NR never really has made us of them as their plans would have suggested, and seem to be costing them more to run/lease than anything else. So, they have now all made their way across to Direct Rail Services now and are in DRS's pool.
