spenc
HiI have started a new layout set in North Devon in the late 80s/90s around Meeth clay works. Now the story back in 1982 at the last minute ECC & Devon County Council did a deal to keep the railway line open from Barnstable to Meeth for the movement of clay & a passenger service with funding for track, wagons for clay the line is limited to class 31/33 with poly bulks & 150/153.Here's some pictures of what's been done so far any comments welcome.Steve

RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted January 3, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 3, 2014 Liking that very much! Nice and simple concept - although I thought you'd moved away from the Nortth Devon idea on Spenridge Road because it was too simple in operation for exhibitions? spenc
Hi Ramblin RichI did move away from North Devon layout but there's a few reasons I have gone back to a smaller layout. I have been having problems with my knee for nearly a year now my job at work i'am standing all day it's giving me a lot of pain when I took Spenridge road to Thorncombe I suffered so now it's a smaller layout I can take a chair plus I operate it on my own.so I am thinking about the future not getting younger.when I was looking at some photos on I think it was Devon rail tour I came a cross some pictures of Meeth clay works there's one with a 25 & a DMU one by the shed I kept going back to them and the idea for this layout was born.Steve
spenc
Hi Over these last few days i have done a bit more on the layout still a lot to do finish the cottages, trees, bushes, grass & other bits & bobs.I took it to our show yesterday had some good comments one person said the shed looks like Meeth told me about the area around the clay works.Had a few minor problems they will be sorted before its next outing.Heres some photos. RMweb Gold Ramblin Rich Posted January 19, 2014 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 19, 2014 Even better! I like the fact you've got the 'disused' bit of track on the other side of the road. Can I ask whose backscene that is? It certainly looks appropriate with the hills & suggestion of Dartmoor-ish tors in the distance....
treggyman
Hi Thats looking very good.......Certainly seems to have captured the feel of the area...... Will watch with interest Cheers Bill

spenc
Hi Ramblin Rich Thanks for your comment the backscene is from Gaugemaster GM702 still lots to do.It was nice to take it to our show it allowed me to give it a good run now I can sort a few problems I had mainly in the fiddle yard point in wrong place. The only major problem is getting my couplings sorted I have got magnets in place but it's do I use kaydees or something else ? Thanks Steve
