What makes you say that, Ian? Don't you think the bass enhanced improves the sound sufficiently to make it worthwhile? I'd be interested on hearing your views on the resulting sound.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Dave

Here is a shot of 26023 having a decoder transplant this evening .  A Howes Loksound v3.5 for a Zimo Digi trains notching sound file. Its hell fire!! Anyway, here is how I usually get around the speaker /space problem. My friend who is good with wiring and circuit boards , bins the original and makes his own. This creates a space for a speaker. A shot here of my glue and glaze sound proofing the 2 watt, 4 ohm speaker. This is louder once inside than my bass enhanced experiment.

Ian

I decided that an extension to the gorge was required. I had wondered about this when I completed it nearly 2 years ago. Taking photographs for this blog has made me realize that a little more of it wouldn't go amiss ! That and the fact that the laws of physics , even in miniature, still prevail resulting in a nice thrashy echo!

I started on it last weekend and have worked on it sparingly whilst being back at work on the real railway.

First came the wire mesh and plaster cloth. Then the rock moldings which i shaved down with a hack saw as they were too chunky. I then re arranged them to break up the uniformity , having used the molds previously I didn't want the rock face looking the same all the way along. Glued on with no nails followed with a quick blast with track dirt and then a final sieve of earth blend flock. Its been ballasted but is awaiting the plantation of heather and static grass to finally blend it in. All this to gain around 7" of scenery, I must be mad!

Hi,

Like the pic of 404 going over the bridge :good: ! Can I ask how you went about fitting new wheels to your Grain wagons and what wheels you used?

Bill.

Hi , thanks. They are by Colin Craig , a signalman from Abergavenny. He has his own web site I believe. I sent mine via a friend. He uses the existing Lima axle . Ian

37033 making its debut on the layout. I tested it and it worked fine. Finished weathering it, re assembled it and it ran like a pig! : / . After an hour of being stripped and cleaned within an inch of its life its running well again now and sounds hell fire!
