Date 2/1/1982 No more explanation other than a young man and his dodgy camera found Craigentinny footpath was busy but it was nothing nothing compared to the suburban platform at Waverley that day. Would that be the prints from a 126 camera, I had Kodak instamatic 126 one, the pictures I took were bloomin awful! Still remember the sound as it went up to Exeter Central though, fantastic. Yes but I only had a 126 Instamatic camera, the pictures are, well, not good would be one (polite) discription I could use! PinzaC55 Posted May 13, 2014 Author Share Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) Way way back on 3.8.78 I visited Thirsk and snapped 55019 zooming south past a steam age water crane, ancient colour light signals and in the background a rake of flat wagons which were used to unload tanks for Catterick. Thirsk was a difficult place to visit because the train service was very poor in those days with sometimes 2 hour gaps inbetween trains! Must have been in 1980/1. In the offices of Brunel House we heard the beast before seeing it, even though it was running on one engine only. Having spent many hours peering through said windscreens, I didn't take much notice of what locos had twin or single wipers! Twin wipers were prone to getting jammed up at high speed.
