Another black and white scan.  As with many of the others ot has nbeen lightly sepia toned.  As usual it is presented here just as it was in the album.

Good evening, David. That’s a great selection of photo’s from the far north of Germany quite near the Danish border at Flensburg, on the 12th August, 1992. The first photo’ is an excellent portrait shot of DB shunter, 333 003.

The whole plate print, by your Dad, of Flying Pig, 4MT, 2-6-0, 43012, complete with a double chimney, on a down, class E, empty wagon train, at Lenton South Junction, in December, 1950, is a superb photo’, and the sepia tone adds to it’s historical charm.

The photo’s of the Blyth and Tyne, between Bedlington South and North Blyth alumina terminal, are an excellent set. The last photo’ at North Blyth Alcan, with large logo 56133, on the 28th March, 1989, is a delightful and well composed three quarter portrait shot of the locomotive.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Blyth West staithes 21st June 86  C7596  now cut down to just above water level

The gantries over the upper deck look like supports for overhead electrification but are they for lighting?

I think these staithes featured in the final scenes of the early 70s film Get Carter.

Sorry it's taken a while to answer this, I had to check it out.

The gantries on the staithes are for lights.  There were 4 tracks, so five walkways, lights over each one.

The two smaller heavier looking gantries are for the coal chutes, there were only two on these staithes.  They had equipment to try to avoid lumps of coal being broken up.

The staithes at Blyth were indeed used in Get Carter.

Good evening, David. That is a great selection of photo’s at Bressingham in 1972 with one from 1973 showing various gauges. The last photo’ of rebuilt Royal Scot p, 6100, in September, 1973, is an excellent portrait shot of the locomotive by your Dad.

The whole plate print of Fowler 4F, of 1911, 43874, on a class E, down empty wagon train, at Toton, in June, 1951, is a truly superb photo’. I am looking forward to more of these whole plate prints.

The photo’s of the Great Eastern at Manningtree, are a superb set. J4307, of 47009, on a down express passenger train, in May, 1975, being a particularly atmospheric photo’ as the 47 clearly accelerates its train, leaving behind a plume of exhaust.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

Another one from and 8"x6" print, this time a 4F at Toton.

Very evocative - the silhouette of the signalman at the bells captured, a never to be repeated snapshot of time, his box was to be swept away 18 years later* by the October 1969 resignalling.

* Wonder how many trains passed in the intervening years.

Good evening, David. That’s a fantastic set of photo’s of Gonalaston crossing, east of Lowdham. The last photo’ of a Nottingham to Lincoln service train, on the 25th February, 1977, is a superb ‘train in the landscape’ view. Andrew, on enlarging the photo’, it can be seen, from the windows and roof vents, that the unit is a Park Royal class 103. I have checked the Railcar website, and this photo’ is a bit of a special one since by 1977 the remaining 103’s were based at Chester.

The whole plate print of Jubilee, 45568, Western Australia, on a down express train from St. Pancras to Bradford, at Trent, in February, 1951, is another real gem of a photo’. Thank you for posting it.

The photo’s of Harrogate at both the station and The Stray, are truly superb and full of atmosphere. J375, of LMS Cass 5, 45210, on a Harrogate to Kings Cross service, in September, 1965, is an excellent photo’, by your Dad, and shows such a contrast between the filthy steam engine and the ex-works Mkl SK.

With warmest regards,

Rob.

The wagons in Scan-130526-0020 are interesting. Shows that the interiors weren't painted, possibly not much of the exterior and the middle one has a bowed side, priceless details for modellers.

Great photos as ever.

Good evening, David. That’s a great set of photo’s of two places in Scotland beginning with "I". J3283, of Inverness Milburn Junction, with two Class 26’s on an Inverness to Euston train, the Royal Highlander, in August, 1973, is a superb ‘train in the landscape’ photo’.

The black and white photo’s of the Midland at Ilkeston Junction, Kegworth and Loughborough Midland, are an excellent selection. JVol7194, at Loughborough Midland, with Class 5, 44847, on a down passenger train in c1953, is a splendid photo’ of the Black 5 hauled train, and it can be seen that the left hand lamp has the cover, with the lense,  open. You would not get away with that on a model…

With warmest regards,

Rob.
