Foster Street (Its Grim Up North)

Well what a disaster, I removed some pictures from my online gallery thinking nothing of it, then a day or so later I realised that all my blog and thread entries would then be picture less.

Yes I am an idiot, sorry if some of the previous entries are messed up, but normal service (whatever that is :)) will resume shortly

In the name of research today (to work out what stock to use fill the storage yard with for Foster Streets first exhibition WESTON 2014), who am I trying to kid, I just wanted to play trains :), I even took a few photo's. The question is should I load these into my online gallery in which case they will be smaller but I can add comments to explain the movements, or should I add them like this below.

Oh by the way its supposed to be a Milk train heading towards Manchester...

If t'were me I would post them on here, I like the bigger pictures - saves getting the old magnifying glass out...

Nice milk train, if a little clean, I've just been researching the milk traffic for Bakewell, and they were mostly filthy.

Cheers,

Al.

I have realised today just how much stock I have that needs weathering, it was quite a surprise to discover I have 14 milk tanks to do, half of them I can't even remember buying

I had one of those last year I found the pesky little sods hiding behind the skirting boards

Ha!

Thanks to Sierd (Trains and Armour), I had one of Rob's running loose in my station!

Took ages to clean up. Mind you, did the roses a treat :O

Well I have spent a little bit more time (what am I saying it just devours time like a black hole) on the Goods yard area of Foster Street, and finally the list of outstanding jobs is getting smaller. I still have lots to do including weathering, and adding the little people, but I can turn my attention to other areas of the layout??

Well today I thought it would be good to weather some stock for the layout, as I thought I had 12 milk tanks to work on, it turns out I have 15, but before I tackled them I finished some Stannier coaches first.

Well as if I have not got enough projects on the go, so I think I will have to add another, this one is more of a rescue job as someone has put graffiti all over an 8F I mean who are these LNER people......:)

I'm sure with a bit of effort I can rectify this outrage and return the old girl to a more decent state

I told you that my milk tanks would not stay clean for long, a little work with the old paintbrushes and this is the result

They look great, much more prototypical.

Please hurry up and put the 8F out of it's misery, the poor thing :O

Well the 8F restoration is progressing nicely, the terrible LNER scrawl has been removed :) and the area made ready for suitable evidence of LMS ownership (I still have not got a number any suggestions??)

I have managed to fit glazing to the cab, and also took the opportunity to add this to my Fairburn build, which is near completion. I think both engines may receive a little light weathering????

Oh and I fitted a real coal load in the tender

Today while looking for something else I found a doodle/drawing from a couple of years back for a layout I was thinking of building. This layout turned into Foster Street and the drawing is spookily close to the actual layout. as everyone knows these things are not meant to happen, now where did I put those lottery numbers I was thinking of using.....

Well finally the 8F restoration is completed, well the majority of the work anyway and 8660 enters service on the layout, with a light dusting on weathering to give the impression of a hard working engine. She is joined by Fairburn tank 2678, again showing a little grime from earning a crust, I'm not sure if I'm happy with the results, I may have to revisit them both with the weathering brushes
