Guest WM183
Mr Sheep, Do you just apply the powders with a brush? Your weathering is great! I'd love to get similar results on my wagons.

They give better results than paint brushes and different brushes give different effects. Have a go! Rob Edited March 16, 2020 by NHY 581

I used the Humbrol Matt acrylic varnish on a black wagon kit, I did and it turned the truck grey in parts. I had used a transfer and micro sol.. Sorry I am just a beginner. I have been trying to find the cause. Could it be I hadn't shaken the can enough? I am about to use some Powsides transfers , I'm hoping it doesn't turn them grey too. Any advice and help appreciated. Many thanks Hi D. It's blooming. If I was a betting man, I would say this could be down to any one of s few things. Temperature of the can/contents. Temperature of surroundings. Amount sprayed on. So, Try to avoid spraying in cold dampish conditions. Pre warm can( usual disclaimer)...I stand mine for a bit in warm water then shake well. Light spray from a distance so that the varnish is all but dry on hitting the model. Better a couple of light passes than one thick one methinks. I hope this helps. RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted June 12, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2020 (edited) Morning all. No new projects yet but I may well be having a go at another Peckett over the weekend. For now, a couple of images of Bachmann Scenecraft buildings with a bit of added paint and powders. Rob. ** Some later images added showing buildings in situ. RMweb Premium Torper Posted June 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 12, 2020 I've just read all the way throught this thread and it is fascinating to see how your weathering has evolved and, dare I say it, improved. Your 16T mineral wagons are, I think, the best I've seen. I've got a rake to do and if i can get them half as good I'll be pleased. DT
RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted June 12, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted June 12, 2020 Thanks DT. You are spot on. Things have evolved over time and I think I have improved and hopefully will continue to do so. Key is not to rush. Rob.

However, I am looking at some of the techniques used by our military modelling chums in relation to my new 7mm adventure and mig does figure a lot in their world.. RMweb Gold NHY 581 Posted August 22, 2020 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 22, 2020 (edited) It's been a while but a couple more views of Sheep Dip by way of a round up. As per earlier entries, I keep to the same palette be it for locos, stock, track or buildings. I hope therefore that this give a consistent appearance to the layouts. Rob. The pigments are much more finely ground than those you are used to. Very subtle results can be achieved. Vast selection of colours in both pigments and washes, so beware the collector temptation. I know about these things! 1 1
