Hello everyone

Apologies for the delay since last posting but numerous events have interrupted progress in many ways.

I decided to weather the chassis on my GNER rake so, to protect the lower part of coach body, applied some Tamiya masking tape.  Could not believe that when I removed it some of the varnish came away with it!!

That really put the cat amongst the pigeons so ended up with 6 coaches to repair and one required a complete re-spray!!

Too cold outside to work in the shed so decided to do a couple or so re-sprays, which I have posted for comment.

I completed a couple for my friend which comprise 37262 Dounreay in plain Engineers Grey and a blue/grey TRFB stripped and re-done in FGW unbranded colours to complete His Scotrail Driver Training HST that is currently regular running between Aberdeen and Dundee sans passengers.

For myself, I re-sprayed a stripped Mark 3 into GNER colours and designated coach M.  I also stripped a couple of HST Power Cars and they are now re-sprayed as 43093 in FGW Green and named Old Oak Common complete with Legends decals.  These were a decal set from Railtec Transfers and easy to apply.  The second Power Car is FGW blue depicted as 43186 Queens Diamond Jubilee and the decals are from Precision.  I think both Power Cars are a great addition to my HST fleets.

As always, please feel free to comment and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all and hope you are pleased with the manufacturers announcements for this year!

Regards

John

As John states above it's been a while so, straight to the latest running session...

Some of the most eagle eyed will notice some less obvious scenic changes and improvements... I'm sure John will go in to more detail as time allows

Hi all,

Finally another running session, been a while due to both of us being rather busy.

John has progressed more loco work than layout work. However a productive time was had and a way forward with scenic work thought out.

With the weather getting warmer John hopes to spend more time on the layout, so hopfully in the not to distant to distant future the scenic section should see more form and detail.

Without any more delay, the video......

Regards & thanks for watching

Roy

Hi everyone

As Roy says, been a busy time, including a family visit to Australia!

I have spent far too much time on stock rather than on the scenics but probably because it has been too cold to work in the shed!!

I have re-numbered a lot of my Oxford Rail Mark 3a coaches, completed a Rail Operations Group class 47 (47813) from 47535 University of Leicester as this loco had double flush ends but had to get class 57type roof grills from Rainbow Railways to complete.

I have also got to gloss varnish stage with Large Logo class 37 which is a re-spray from 37041 and will become 37116 Comet.

I am also at the gloss stage of a re-sprayed Bachmann class 158 which will be Scotrail saltire livery once complete.

I also bought some JHA blanking patches from Railtec Models and they are excellent. saves messing about masking, spraying etc. Just applied the blue blanking patches and, one dried, a quick sweep of Halfords satin rattle can spray to seal. Very pleased with the result.

Have still got a few locos to go through the re-spray process - a Hornby Arriva blue class 67 to Pullman livery, a DRS class 57 to WCRC livery and a Dellner fitted Bachmann class 57 Thunderbird that will become DRS 57307 Lady Penelope in Cable Thieves livery.

However, as Roy said, need to concentrate on a bit more scenic work now.

Will also be thinning down my stock again as still sitting at 200+ locos and over 700 items of rolling stock!!

I will post some photos of my ROG 47 and 37116 in the near future.

Regards

John

]Hello Everyone

Glad to see a few of you enjoyed the video of the latest running session on Parkway.

As usual, not as much progress on the layout as I would have liked but, as they say, always time yet!!

I thought I would add a few photos to let you know what I have been up to.

I have added photographs of 3 new editions to the layout in the way of Rails LE 66727 Maritime 1, NRM LE Evening Star in gloss livery and 47714 Regional Special 47/7 in Anglia livery.

I have also added some photographs of recent re-sprays I have completed.  These are 37116 Comet in large logo, 47813 in Rail Operations Group Livery, 37608 in post DRS Europhoenix livery complete with Rainbow Railways nose end a cab top light conversion and, finally 56036 in Large Logo.  All decals are by Railtech and so easy to use and unobtrusive when all complete.

Finally, just to show that I am doing some scenery additions I have added pictures of the new retaining wall built for the South end of layout where access to future industrial estate is from road overbridge and the twin tunnels at North end of layout for main line and North access to TMD (South access to TMD is over canal.

]Hello everyone

Yet another long period since posting but you all know how busy summer is for us all these days.

Not a lot done on the layout itself other than a few electronic tweeks and Roy managed to spend a day up here and took some 80s theme video of stock running.  You can view the video on YouTube under "Tractorclag".

However, I have managed a bit of loco work which entails Expess light kits fitted to two Heljan 47s and two re-sprays - photos below.

The first re-spray was of a class 47 with flush ends at number 1 and 2 ends so there were limitations on what loco I could depict.  I was short of a Railfreight Distribution liveried 47 so, rather that shell out for 47209 Herbert Austin, thought I would do 47299 which is the only double flush ended 47 I could identify in that livery.

The other re-spray is a further money saver!  I had a spare 37068 Grainflow so thought I could jump the Bachmann Reps Limited Edition and turn out 37104 in Railfreight General livery.  This livery was intended for locomotives not allocated to a specific business or sub sector.  Its usefulness proved limited and the re and yellow bars were only applied to four locomotives - 37104/50149/86501 and 86502 for a short period.

Thought it would be easy doing a re-number etc but could not get rid of the shadow where the Grainflow name had been so ended up with a full strip and re-spray!!  Nose end doors also had to be modified as 37068 had flush ends.  The doors were kindly done by Roland Turner, Decals etc are a mixture of Fox and Rainbow Railways and the re-spray was done by myself using Railmatch enamels with a final coat of Rainbow Railways excellent enamel based semi gloss varnish.

Any comments, please feel free to pass on.

John

Good evening everyone,

A while since my last posting but at least Roy posted the latest video taken on Parkway.

As normal, slow going with some scenery work but I have at least made a new length of wall for the North end of the layout.  I wanted something better than I had to match the twin tunnel portal and single tunnel portal on the main line and TMD exit.  I bought some Slaters sheeting

and mounted it on plywood and e coping stones from styrene sheet.  The photograph I have attached is post Halfords grey primer and a thin colour wash.  Dry brushing is the next step.

I have also included a couple of photographs of my newly installed colour CCTV monitor and one of the cameras.  The two cameras are installed under the upper level so I can see the train formations are going into the correct fiddle yard tyrack.  You can see by the photo of the monitor that it sits next to my ESU ECoS controller which I have also set fiddle yard routes on the track plan displays.  Delighted with the CCTV set up (Buyee) with colour monitor, two cameras and lots of cable for £52.00.

As usual, I have been up to a few re-sprays so have included photos of the latest editions to my fleet.  37114 Dunrobin Castle is a respray by Cairnsroadworks I had done a few years ago but have added the photo to show the new bonnet mounted car headlamp installed.  I bought some bonnet mounted sets and door mounted sets from Lees Models and they are excellent and really make a difference to the locomotive.

The re-sprays I have done are as follows and photos are attached:-

47315  This was Union Jack Bachmann 47 that I tried to sell on Ebay but no interest.  Thought a change of livery would go well with my previous Engineers grey 37098.  I had to fill in the boiler port and add a Hi intensity light to each end, change to white handrails and, luckily, Roy has come up with a simple re-wire for the Bachmann 47 that enables independent control of the rear trailing lights by use of functions 1 and 2 on my DCC system.

60095  Luckily, I had an extra EWS livery Hornby Class 60 so into the stripping bath and a re-livery into GBRf.  It looks really well on the layout and I am pleased with the result. I used Precision Decals for the re-livery.

67024  Managed to get a cheap Arriva blue loco with decoder fitted for £95 on Ebay.  As I had a rake of Pullman coaches thought it was a good opportunity to make use of Railtec transfers and add a Pullman liveried loco to the stud.

67027  Did this one a while ago in DB Schenker livery and when running it spotted that I had not done the grills black! A quick visit to the spray booth and there She is.  Only problem is that I will also have 67027 in Colas guise so maybe put the red one on Ebay.

That's it for now so hope you like the photos and please feel free to comment. It is really good to get constructive feedback, it helps improve future products.

Hi John,

Is the body cracked on 67027? It isn't sitting properly at the left end and there's light visible through the body at the cab corner.

I had done 027 in red, so rather than repainting or selling, I removed the DB Schenker branding and renumbered it 67010 and run it with my Arriva Wales set.

Although 010 now carries extra branding

Cheers,

Mick

Well spotted Mick

Thank you, I will check it out and may well follow your renumbering advice.

Did you notice the Roland Turner Hornby crane re-build in the background behind 60095?

Regards

John

I didn't. I've been working on my crane.....

And just realised I haven't any pics of it.

Cheers,

Mick

Has been a while since posting any photos of Parkway developments but have moved forward on both the actual development of the layout and some of the reworking of locomotives. A reworked Hattons 66 to 66113, night shot of TMD. My respray of 47813 with ROG translator coaches and two of my resprayed class 60 locos on shed, one in DCRail livery and the other in Puma livery.
