hornbyandbf3fan
Cheers Guys, I pop the Kettle on for the next shots for you Will. Depends what type of kettle, if it's a nasty Western one, then it won't do! If it was however allocated somewhere in the East Midlands however.... RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted February 16, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2015 Hi Andy - Buckfast is just down the road from me. It's actually almost exactly one mile from the SDR station to the Abbey. Here are a few shots in the grounds around the Abbey, and some from up on the hill - may be useful for a backscene - happy to take some in a different season if that helps? We lived in Hembury Park, Buckfast, and could see the Tower from the front of the Bungalow and over to Dartmoor from the rear. Its a lovely spot. we had a shop in Buckfastleigh at the time but I was more into Continental Railways at that time so only went down to the SDR to walk the Dogs. RMweb Gold Donw Posted February 18, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 18, 2015 You are bringing up some nice memories here Andy, We went through there often Henbury Wood was a favourite place for us to take the dogs. I like the general idea. Regarding the old quarry line it set me thinking of the old Haytor tramway up by Bovey it had granite rails to take the granite down to the canal at Stover. Now if it was worth having a means of getting the granite down from there your quarry line makes sense. You could have the old Quarry line disused but still have granite brought down by road for loading at the station. Don
Andrew P
Thanks George, I like the Maroon one as well, but need to sort out the ORRIBLE couplings. Nice idea Mick, or I could just paint a tree lined back scene and say the Station is down alongside the River Dart. Don, As we had Sight & Sound (sorry if you just read this and didn't understand it, my lap top suddenly started opening new WINDOWS each time I TOUCHED THE KEYBOARD) in Buckfastleigh we didn't open until ten in the mornings and so we would bung our 3 Dogs in the back of our Suzuki Jeep and go up to the Woods and then walk along the Dart about 7am each morning. Lovely sitting on the River Bank watching the Salmon coming up stream.

Long Story, moved back to Hampshire, to see the Grandchildren, then to Swad for other reasons, hahah. Prefer it here though, better selection of Railways and Walks. RMweb Gold Donw Posted February 19, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 19, 2015 One thing there are a lot more Model Railway exhibitions around Swad than Buckfast, although there is a very good garden railway group at the station. Don

Andrew P
Hi George, Yes very slow progress is being made, and really not worthy of any photos, besides I keep having to move it to work on Bitton I keep forgetting the camera. I will do a proper update soon complete with pics.
