Dungrange
I've never signed up to anything from Atlas before, but I am interested in some of the construction plant, especially the road-rail Unimog (and any other road-rail equipment that may follow). However, I assume that you have to sign up for a series of models and can't just purchase say models 1, 5, 7 etc and decline to purchase the others. As I'm not a collector, I'm not particularly interested in an airport fire engine, which also seems to be part of this series and I'm sure there will be as many that I don't want as those that I do. As I already have the Bachmann model of 66411, I'm not really looking for another (unless it's also £14.99 + P&P!!!). Even although the Komatsu is a little big for what I'm wanting, at £2.99 it would be a shame not to sign up.
Phil Clarke 1980
I posted in another thread you can send any unwanted models back if and wait for the ones you want all you do is pay postage and it will be returned or what one lady told me don't open the box or the model and take it back and return to sender and it will be free! but I don't mind paying p&p what she also done with great british buses when I told her i wanted just a specific one was that she can order it for me and cancel my subscription for me or if I want to order any of the other tell her which ones and she will order them for me and pay when the model comes but as I only wanted the one I ordered it off her and paid for it there and then and she cancelled my subscription but she did give me the option to just call up with my details and tell them I wanted it restarted and it they would do so and true to there word a few months later I had the bus I wanted they were a pleasure to deal with and everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly and very helpful I think there great and iv been waiting since about November for the next stobart rail since my long arm excavator came and I cant wait ha ha think im goint to keep them all in regards to the 66 the lady I spoke to last week as I mentioned in the fist post above she told me that as far as she is aware her screen is showing that there all the same price apart from the first two models the excavator at £2.99 and the lowloader at £9.99 +p&p which is my next one to come she said she thinks the 66 at £14.99+p&p she could not tell me any more detals about it tho i.e weather its a runner or who makes it but she said as will all models if unhappy or I just don't want it pop it back in the post all the best Phil Edited June 7, 2015 by Phil Clarke 1980
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 7, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 7, 2015 Thats great news about the 66 Phil, if its correct. If it is a static model it can still be placed on a layout, and if it is as it appears is fitted with couplings it might be usable as a 'dummy' for double heading. royaloak
I collect several of the Atlas Editions models and am more than happy with them, the excavator is the latest one. It measures up at- Length (boom fully extended) 31.5cm, folded 22.5cm, body 6cm, tracks 6cm. Height body 4cm, boom extended up 19,5cm, Width body 4cm, tracks 4.5cm. The only problem is the weight of the arm means it wont stay elevated and just flops down, I am sure I can sort that out though. I previously did the 'get the first model and cancel' and I simply made a phone call to them, gave my Customer number and collection title and they emailed confirmation of the cancellation within 10 minutes, job done. Okay you can probably get most of the models cheaper elsewhere if you can be bothered to do the legwork but the convenience of having them drop through the letter box is worth the extra money. I am a very satisfied customer and am more than a little curious about the loco.

If it is a static model it can still be placed on a layout, and if it is as it appears is fitted with couplings it might be usable as a 'dummy' for double heading. Some have said that the '66' image is just an image of the Bachmann model and that they have not made the model yet. As with you, though. I hope it is either a runner or at least a dummy. RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 9, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 9, 2015 An item about cold callers on the breakfast show this morning reminded me. If you apply for any Atlas series using the flyer with the detachable postcard check the boxes in the corner. IIRC they have to be ticked if you don't want your personal details passed on to a third party.
87023Velocity
For those who are interested in how the long boom excavators are transported, I have seen 2 over the past couple of days whilst travelling down the M4 & M5. Both where on lowloaders, similar to the one I have modelled below which is a heavily modified Oxford 8 axle lowloader. Both had escort vehicles following because of the overhang from the boom between the loading ramps is quite substantial. It would be good if Oxford/Atlas would look at doing some 3 & 4 axle lowloaders as these are more common than the 8 axle currently available. Cheers Simon

The trailer manufacturer Nooteboom has a fan page on Facebook well worth following. http://www.facebook.com/NooteboomTrailersFan/photos/
RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted June 25, 2015 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted June 25, 2015 My excavator arrived this morning. Well detailed model but put alongside the mainly H0 scale models that are available the scale difference is noticeable.
Dungrange
... but put alongside the mainly H0 scale models that are available the scale difference is noticeable. It's probably exacerbated by the fact that this prototype is larger than some, but it's one reason why I am looking forward to more announcements from Oxford Diecast on the construction front. But then I got an e-mail saying it had been despatched from Switzerland and it arrived two days later. Not bad, only 16 days after I posted the card. RMweb Gold big jim Posted June 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 29, 2015 my excavator arrived this morning, p!$$ poor packaging so the box was damaged, no biggie though as its going to be "played with" anyway quite an impressive thing, have a nice corner of the layout where it can live looking at the paperwork with it it says the next model, the scania low loader it goes on is £9.99 plus £4.99 p+p with 4 free postcards and a trucks and trailers dvd, after that the Doosan Daewoo Earth mover will be the "Normal issue price" of £14.99 plus £3.99 p+p with some free coasters, then you will build up your collection at £14.99 a month (plus £3.99 p+p) not quite sure what to make of the prices, it seems steep for the likes of the airport crash tender but then cheap for the konecranes stacker (normally £20+ for the oxford one) and it will of course be interesting to see what the 66 turns out to be
sdw7300
Mine also arrived over the weekend. My packaging was in a similar state to Jim's - One of the main pistons / rams was bent but easily straightened by hand. For £2.99 I'm impressed - it's definitely not comparable to an Oxford Diecast but will look fine once weathered up. A couple of pics mainly to show how large it is! 97303 in the background to give a sense of scale. I will get the low-loader next month but in two minds whether to cancel after that...
