  1. I am in awe! Not only is there some superb work on display here, as one would expect, but I've also found out that there's a Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society and not only that, that our very own Andy York has material posted on it! What's not to like?

  2. Dave, I've found the one ( just one so far ! ) that I made about 6 months ago after looking at the Appreciation website and came up with this.... I just need to build the layout to plonk it on now ! G

  3. Well, the dye has been cast...... the through Station is no more....... Track work has been uprooted and a base for the engine shed is in situ...... GWR water fascilities have been carefully fettled from an old whitemetal kit...... The long awaited cattle dock at the front has been made..... A replacement signal box, not made by me, but snapped up on ebay made by a longstanding regular seller was snapped up and is fully detailed internally and fits well at the end of what will be a new platform.. The new detailed platform will be fabricated platform in the next few weeks using 422 Model Making products....

  4. I agree with regard to the Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society, Dave. The Memsahib thought I had gone mad when she looked over my shoulder to see what I was looking at. A very good site. Rob.

  5. This photo of Craigellachie cabin confirms the way you have led your wires in Dave. Incidentally, I have part of one of the cross arms from this particular pole!

  6. They look really nice, although the times I’ve had poles I always shyed away from actually doing the wires, as being minuscule and far too vulnerable. There was an article published in “Model Railways” for April 1975 by Mr. Wilf Wells, “Telegraph and Telephone line construction methods of the LNER” which runs over much the same ground. As to dimensions, the only size given is a minimum diameter of 7”, the poles tapering out from that. Pole of the Month?

  8. Pole of the month? How have I got this far in life without seeing such a thrilling contest? Looking good Mr Wenlock!

  9. Cheers Pete. Likewise for Kyle. Should be a good day out I reckon.

  10. You need to use Loctite anaerobic adhesives/sealants, such as 603, and not cyanoacrylate “super glue” for bonding an Alan Gibson wheel to a steel axle.
