  1. Interestingly, along very similar lines, we (Stevenage & District MRC) are taking our small, portable, 0 gauge layout to it's first exhibition* this weekend. It was an unfinished shunting layout that was donated to the club, we decided that it could represent a fictional heritage centre. We have named it 'Lea Valley Railway Centre' as a nod to our origins (we started out as the Lea Valley MRC in the 60's) The reasoning behind a fictional heritage centre is that we can run anything, so it's not dependant on the same old members bringing their own stock, or relying on club stock, we are being careful with the back-scene, so we can move it geographically, including the European and American continents! *West Essex Modelrail ( iwemrc.org.uk )
  2. Interesting take on this, I bet if Hornby had done this, there would be lots of frothing!
  3. I understand your point, but then why have they put the wrong way round, and used 7, instead of 0? By that logic, and following the normal convention, it should be 0-ng!
  4. But then it would be 0-14, following the long established, and easy to understand, method of definition!
  5. But why have they gone against all normal conventions, and called it NG-7 (or 0-7)? It's 0-16.5, they didn't rename their 00-9 models, so why do it now?
  6. I use a relatively cheap, basic sat-nav, but if/when I get stuck in traffic, I use Waze, as it uses feedback from other users
  7. If you need to use 'really fat bus wire', then you either have a huge layout, so the Gaugemaster DS isn't suitable, or you're using oversized wire! It's a starter layout for a beginner, according to the OP
  8. Just to add, a few of us go there after club (Mondays and Thursdays) so I'm probably a little biased! Also, I'll be in there Saturday night, with a group of mates, to celebrate Alan West's life', it would've been his birthday on Thursday, the 4th
  9. But when was the photo taken? They both could have been legal at the time!
  10. The Station, Knebworth, the other side of the road, opposite the station entrance. Community pub with regular variety of ales and beers, mostly local breweries, and good food, also food/drink themed evenings, with a good atmosphere.
  11. Most builders are okay with it, if you ask them first, assuming the stuff you want is easily accessible. When I worked for a loft conversion company, the guys would quite often help them retrieve stuff! One guy built a shed on his allotment using the old joists and rafters, and it meant we could put more stuff in the skip before it needed emptying.
