  1. A slight exaggeration there - even in preservation there are lots of areas that have never seen one ................ yes, a nice 'general purpose' locomotive in its place.
  2. Well, the Westinghouse pump and European style buffers & couplings were probably common to them too !
  3. a.k.a "Trandem" : https://www.cyclist.co.uk/news/iconic-trandem-from-the-goodies-up-for-auction .... but then, as were talking about quins rather than trios : - Coventry Motor Museum : 9/9/19
  4. Actually not quite as simple as that : re-reading Platform 5's 'Departmental Coaching Stock, I see that "The DB97xxxx series was first used at the end of 1966 ..." ...... so everything must have gained a regional 'D' prefix before then - but I guess there were few BR standard vehicles departmentalised that early ! ( Though from an early Lot of Mk1s, W1012 was only about a dozen years old when converted.)
  5. Would be interesting to know why DW150353 ( http://www.cs.rhrp.org.uk/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=1108 ) was given a DW rather than DB number !!?!
  6. Am I imagining things, or have I bought foam lined boxes from a stand that appears frequently a model railway shows .............. nope, can't think what they're called so must be my imagination ........ DOH ! 😎
  7. ... so long as these features remain optional.
  8. Yes - even if the lights stayed on, the blinds would often be pulled down so barely a glimmer would be seen from outside.
  9. ... though Rapido might take umbrage if they were seen to contain - let's say - 'inferior' products ! ☹️
  10. Little doubt that's what the Listowel one was - though with its curved 'deck' it doubled as a multi-route turnout. ( Would be great on a shunting puzzle layout ! )
  11. Does that mean the Rapido model will include parts from, perhaps, Accurascale and Ellis Clark assembled at random ??!? 🙄
  12. ... which would tie in with the hose above the buffer beam.
  13. Not quite sure how they've disguised the backscene where the tracks go through - but plonking all those cars together seems to disguise the join in the road.
  14. Can't think of anything to do with pork pies or dog food that runs on wheels !
