Popular Post KNP
Wills fencing added to the bottom of the gardens and I must say I don't think it looks out of place. Best picture I could get without falling on layout.....which I have been advised is not a good idea! House still loose but when fixed plinth/ground detail will be sorted. Need to work out what exactly how to finish the area of grass - shrubs and grass comes to mind. It'll be another one of my - park and wait to see what pops into the old mind box. Greenhouse is a selection of scrap box windows put together exactly as my Grandfather did with his one in the late 30's and that stood until removed in the late 60's for a new one. 26

KNP
Hot from the photographic studios with the picture still damp..... You can see the grass area behind the station nameboard. At the moment it is just static grass on 3 layers of 2mm greyboard for height, but it needs adding to. Still a few bits of dressing to do, seats, coal sack, tools, perhaps a wheel barrow, chickens would be useful. Bit more overgrown shrubbery needed behind the asbestos shed me thinks. I do need to tone the greenhouse down as it looking a little to pristine, could have been recently painted but I think not knowing the owner as I do. Psst, don't tell anyone but I'm toying with the idea of how to add some washing lines complete with washing on...….. shhh don't say anything.... keep it to yourself!!! wink wink.. Nudge, nudge - no sorry that's another thread?

Popular Post KNP
Sweeping around, and here for the first time, the Squadron Leader caught the Cathcott Field development in is entirety. Britannia Boot and Shoemakers factory on the right, offices and shop next (as seen in the recent BRM magazine) and the workers cottages with their 'new' back gardens The gap between the two buildings will have a piece of back scene added - still in the 'now what do I add there then'...mode I am really glad I did this, apart from giving me something to build, it has also dragged the station into and feel part of the town. One thing I have learned with this layout is that it is never finished, rather it evolves. And this what it looked like in January 2017. Complete with the wrong era railcar!!! Thanks for asking the question. I have no desire to have pigs in the garden, but it was certainly popular in the war & just after when meat was rationed. atb simon
RMweb Gold Harlequin Posted August 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 6, 2019 (edited) Hi Kevin, Just going back to an earlier theme for a moment, I was reading "Western Steam in Colour" by Hugh Ballantyne recently and I found just the photo for you on page 47 - two panniers double-heading a freight train near the river Avon. Large cab 9626, older small cab, 8714, both with spare lamps stowed ;-) The only thing wrong with the picture is they are filthy black, not proper-job green... There's another photo in the book that made me think of Little Muddle: A 1366 class small pannier (1370) at Weymouth Quay. Diminutive, outside cylinders, designed for sharp curves in places like dockyards and quaysides, where they would normally be shedded. Very photogenic. The Heljan model has some detail problems (I understand) but would look great after a bit of expert fettling. Need I say more? RMweb Gold Brinkly Posted August 6, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 6, 2019 This is my 1366 having had about 2 hours running in. It is a very smooth locomotive and quite heavy, resulting in quite reasonable haulage cacapity. Regards, Nick.

Popular Post KNP
For those of you who follows Mick Bonwick's blog you will have seen his most recent one on weathering the Fowler ploughing engine. Well I had a visit this afternoon from Mick and he has let me keep this land engine on Little Muddle. So here is a quick picture I have taken that hopefully displays what a good model it is and improved no end by Mick's brilliant weathering. More to follow...
