Polly

Out may need to add more ink as tar seems to spread...and a little dust as well as it attracts dirt...

Nice photos..some very clean milk tankers in them.

Baz

This morning

Thanks, Baz.

The lovely rake of Gas Light and Coke Company tanks lined up for the photo shoot maybe just the job for the works new brochure but not very helpful for weathering ideas.

For convenience, here's the link again: http://www.newhamstory.com/node/1428

Later..

Tarring up of wagon underway...

Later again...

Some weathering.

To be continued...

Pretty good day thanks Polly - but no news from Lightmoor on anything by Tony Cooke alas.

Thanks for trying, Mike. I've got the details, now, so I know what to look for.

Hi Polly, obviously you and Ray had a good Day, and just what DID YOU BUY?

A dustman (for the other layout) - another paint job! :mosking:

And a pre-order after the event - Kernow has an awful lot to answer for (see two posts above).   :D

Hello Polly,

Looks like you had a great day, with lots of nice picture as well, did you or Ray bag any bargains ??

George

Yes, George - we didn't have to pay postage.  :jester:

As the few bits we did buy all came from different suppliers, it would have mounted up quite nicely.

Then, there was the free BRM DVD.

Morning Ray / Polly,

Thats the thing with big exhibitions you can wander round til you bag all the bits you need, with no postal charges, you can save anything between £20 - 30 easily, l am going to the show at Poynton next saturday hopefully bag some goodies ?

Regards George

Weathering on tar tank still in progress.

Hopefully, I'll get the top finished over the weekend.

All good practice for some GWRd oil tanks.

And, if your wondering about the coal/ash ballast look, it's the cork underside of a place mat!

Enjoy the Poynton show, George.  We've not been to this one but we've got quite a busy month ahead so can't fit it in.

All the best

We're now in December and time for doing December things especially when it has something to do with GWRd.   So, let's try out the loco while we can.   :sungum: .

A bit of detail to wet the modelling appetite.

Some pics of what lies behind those cute mascots.

If you're going on it or getting out to see it, hope you enjoy it.

Cracking pics Polly, you and Young Raymond do get out and about a bit, I'm aloud in Town tomorrow,

If I'm a good Boy,

ahhahah

Thanks, Andy.

We made it a 3-day trip.  Wednesday we travelled down to Euston and did some window shopping in Oxford Street.  I'll try and post some pics on ERs tomorrow. The York trip was advertised as the St Nicholas Fayre but we headed for the National Railway Museum as it would probably be my only chance to see the Trainspotter's exhibition.

This pic is just totally NOT GWRd but what a fantastic sight we had when we entered the Great Hall.  I couldn't believe it.  It brought tears to my eyes - and not for the only time that day, I might add.  We've seen the Duchess of Hamilton several times before at the NRM but it's always been half hidden between other locos.  This was just great showmanship.  Thanks NRM.

post-14049-0-84119600-1417908220.jpg

And this has got to be my most artistic pic of the day:  "Still Life" in the Duchess's cab where they had a friendly and informative Explainer on duty.

post-14049-0-34391300-1417908275.jpg

And through the hall we came across this GREAT WESTERN specimen which was just about to give us a twirl.

post-14049-0-05971000-1417908413.jpg

And then round to 6000 King George V.

post-14049-0-19748700-1417908433.jpg

And then to the workshop and sussing out that here lies a former Southall resident, 4472 the Flying Scotsman - its boiler and tender, anway. What is more in evidence in the museum, though, is a prominent selection of Flying Scotsman goods for sale.

post-14049-0-75742300-1417908616.jpg

I mentioned trainspotters.  This was largely given over to a trail through the museum on display boards aimed at children with trail booklet available. I went round with a view to modelling trainspotters on GWRd.

I do like the bag!  Now, it could be lunch or he's just bought something exciting with his pocket money or he's been shopping for his mum.  What do you reckon?  What would have been in it had it been your bag?

post-14049-0-59818000-1417909577.jpg

What some got up to! Tut! Tut!  And, yes, they got up to it at Southall, too.

post-14049-0-25163800-1417909602.jpg

A great day.

Looks like you had a cracking time.

I just wish I'd known you were in Oxford Street as I was working less than a mile away then

Can't believe how brilliant it was.

Nice to know you wanted to meet up with us.  That would have been really special.

We'll have to mention it beforehand next time in case there are other opportunities for meeting RMwebbers.

Our fireman was originally from Hayes so we found something in common.

Great bunch of guys on the footplate and some of us were lucky enough to get ourselves in the cab when we arrived at York.  Just look at the heat the camera has picked up from the fire.  The iphone camera couldn't cope with the fire itself.

post-14049-0-61858600-1417983959.jpg

And now for Ray's video of 3717 City of Truro on the turntable.

It's always good to put a face to a name. I had hoped to manage to meet some of the Lunesters at various shows this year but real life constantly got in the way. Maybe next year

Polly,
You and Ray were so close but so far away while in York.
Maybe next time you get close to Leeds we can meet?

Baz
PS still prefer my Duchess's unstreamlined but the red one does look pretty!

Dear Santa

All I want for Christmas is a really big cigar.

I look so lost without it.

You just can't get the modellers these days.

Your faithful servant,
