  1. It was treacly but the good news is I got to see what had been slowing it down last week and sorted it before it became a wider problem today.
  2. Those horns look like they'd make a good noise when you squeeze.
  3. Bachmann are currently experiencing website issues due to server load. It's being investigated but patience will be required. The best advice is not to keep hammering the site with repeat requests and that may help it stabilise.
  4. Nothing to do with that. No-one else particularly needs to know if someone else is disappointed - it really isn't interesting to read and when I've asked for a reduction in guff some really don't think it applies to them. Server loads are high and posting such rubbish is, literally, making it slower for everyone else using the site. I look forward to some more intelligent input than some posts I've already removed.
  5. Somebody didn't read my note did they? Similar guff will just get removed.
  6. Phil's down at the launch and pinging phone snaps back to me. This looks rather useful. Please bear in mind that Phil may have a rather different interpretation as to what's interesting down there. It does serve to remind us that Bachmann Europe is far more than just model railways and alarmingly I could see myself buying one of those for purely nostalgic reasons, finished in orange of course and a bruised pair of vegetables to go with the gear lever.
  7. The same time as when everyone else has asked! Will to live already subsiding.
  8. Purely that my journey would have cost £150 (but I would have got a proper seat) and I couldn't guarantee getting there to get the info at 10.00 so I'm driving the PC and will inevitably have to sit through moans until I lose the will to live about by about 17.00. My next seat may be in the pub.
  9. Looking back at 2018 there’s obviously a fine set of accomplishments from Bachmann Europe although it was a lean year in terms of releases under the Farish brand in terms on new tooling. We shouldn’t forget that alongside the headline-grabbing new models there’s always a steady throughput of new liveries and numbers of existing tooling which is the bread and butter for the modeller and retailer alike. On first viewing of today’s announcements it may lack the impact of previous sets of announcements, although the little Baguley and RNAD wagons gets my vote for a future personal project, it must be tempered with a dose of reality in that Bachmann do have some catching up to do with previous announcements and whilst they’re trying to do that the latter part of 2018 has been affected by the enforced relocation of production sooner than was planned. This has disrupted throughput into the market and I think it will only be after Chinese New Year that impetus resumes which, in turn, means it takes a time for projects to go through production, assembly and decoration before it can be packed on its way for a 4-6 week journey to market. I am sure that everyone is trying to get everything back on track as soon as possible; it would be disappointing to see interminable personal grizzles on here about lack of announcements to cater for personal wants or needs, or enforced delays, and unless any such contributions can be balanced with something worthwhile to say there will be some pruning of pointless comments I daresay. You may have to wait a little longer than you’d like for something personal to you but it’s not the end of your world; meanwhile the team at Bachmann who have for many years kept us well furnished with useful products will be working hard to improve matters.
  10. Painful as that sounds I think you may have got the better deal today.
  11. I'm normally up and about early for a cuppa. Yes, a quick look in here normally happens just to make sure things haven't fallen over or that there's been some overnight warfare. It was an easy question to knock off whist I was around.
  12. The main purpose of showing some pictures on RMweb was to encourage people to go the event whereas the BRM piece was a retrospective. I took a range of pictures from which the editorial desk select ones to illustrate the article. With respect to subscriptions, whether print or digital there are frequently offers which mean that having a year's worth delivered is often better value than just selecting certain issues at the newsstand. I've said before that the way to guarantee a DVD is to subscribe as we have given added value offerings on the newsstand shelves, I can foresee a rush for next month's from modellers who want something quite usable. Whilst BRM gives readers more options on packages so that there's something with significant added value beyond a plain magazine for everyone inevitably there will be some who take a different viewpoint; as they say you cannot please all of the people all of the time. Sales indications are that the wider market is taking advantage of more of the offers so, as a business, we can be proud of that.
  13. Bachmann organise dates at venues around the country over the next couple of weeks for their trade customers to get along to. The hobby press normally attend the first date, which is tomorrow in London, to be briefed on announcements and updates.
  14. It's getting really wearing hearing you bang the same drum, week in, week out; you're not even correct - http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/96640-Bachmann-branchline-announcements-for-20156/
  15. 2019 Bachmann Branchline Catalogue Launched Bachmann Europe Plc has today launched its 2019 Bachmann Branchline catalogue at a trade event held in London. The Bachmann Branchline catalogue covers British outline OO Scale models. The Bachmann Narrow Gauge range of British outline OO9 Scale models is also featured and this range sees the introduction of the first Diesel Locomotive model, alongside no fewer than four new wagons based on those used by the Royal Naval Armaments Depot. New Tooling for the HKA Bogie Hopper Wagon has been developed, adding to the depth of modern wagons available from Bachmann Branchline. 2019 also sees the introduction of an increasing number of SOUND FITTED models – with SOUND FITTED versions of numerous models available alongside the standard non-sound versions in response to customer and consumer feedback. SOUND FITTED models will now feature the suffix ‘SF’ on their item number which will gradually replace the ‘DS’ suffix that was previously used. NEW TOOLING OO9 SCALE LOCOMOTIVES NEW TOOLING – BAGULEY-DREWRY 70HP DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE These ‘modern’ diesel locomotives were built by Baguley-Drewry in the early 1980s for use on the network of Narrow Gauge lines operated by the RNAD (Royal Naval Armaments Depot), augmenting their existing fleet of elderly locomotives. They worked trains carrying explosives and other sundries between the standard gauge exchange sheds and the various hidden storage locations. As the MoD began to consolidate operations, various depots were closed and the redundant locomotives and rolling stock was either moved to other locations or sold off – this staggered programme of disposals has allowed a good number of these locomotives to enter preservation and many now operate far outside their original remit. Preservation has also allowed several new liveries and names to be carried by the surviving locomotives. The Bachmann Narrow Gauge model will feature a 6 pin DCC decoder socket and NEM coupling pockets. 392-025 Baguley-Drewry 70hp Diesel DH88 RNAD Dean Hill 392-026 Baguley-Drewry 70hp Diesel Green OO9 SCALE WAGONS Prior to the investment in new Baguley-Drewry locomotives, the RNAD set about a programme of new rolling stock acquisitions. This programme included flat wagons, covered goods wagons (powder vans) and matching brake vans. The various types of wagons shared several features resulting in the fleet sharing a family resemblance. The most visible modification made under RNAD ownership was the addition of planked sides and sliding doors to the brake vans which were open-sided when built. The covered wagons have also seen modification with the removal of the sliding roof hatches in an attempt to make the vans watertight and therefore better suited to use as mobile storage units in their post-RNAD lives. Many of the wagons were sent straight for scrap once they became surplus to requirements, but luckily preservationists across the country took advantage of the favourable scrap prices at the time and a good number were brought back for private use. The relatively modern construction and strong chassis of these wagons has seen several examples used as the basis for conversion projects into wagon types not originally constructed including hopper wagons, open wagons and even tank wagons. The Bachmann Narrow Gauge models will feature NEM coupling pockets, with examples of wagons in both RNAD and private use being modelled. To realise its plans, National Power ordered five locomotives along with a batch of 85 hopper wagons. The first wagons were delivered in May 1995 and they soon received the TOPS code JMA. In 1998 National Power sold its rail operations to national freight operator EWS. Whilst much of the fleet was stored out of service, in early-2009, those JMAs that were still in service were fitted with new bogies, receiving the TOPS code HKA. As is often the case with freight stock, the wagons were not repainted and many still carried National Power branding. In more recent years, DB Schenker, faced with a shortage of hopper wagons, began a programme to refurbish several of the JMAs that were previously in storage. New bogies have been fitted and the wagons subsequently reclassified as HKAs and several have now been outshopped in the vibrant DB Schenker red livery. The real wagons can be defined as inners (without buffers) and outers (with buffers) and the Branchline models will be supplied with plug-in buffers in the accessory pack, allowing consumers to configure their models to meet their own requirements. 38-036 HKA Bogie Hopper 'National Power' - weathered 38-037 HKA Bogie Hopper 'National Power' (De-Branded) - weathered 38-038 HKA Bogie Hopper DB Schenker NEW RELEASES OF EXISTING TOOLING OO9 Scale Locomotives 391-030 Baldwin 10-12-D Tank No. 4 Snailbeach District Railways Black - weathered 391-031DS Baldwin 10-12-D Tank 590 Welsh Highland Railway Lined Maroon – SOUND FITTED 391-032 Baldwin 10-12-D Tank E763 'Sid' SR Maunsell Green OO9 Scale Wagons 393-025A Bogie Covered Ambulance Van WD Grey 393-026A Bogie Covered Goods Wagon Nocton Estates L. 16. 2019 Graham Farish Catalogue Launched Bachmann Europe Plc has today launched its 2019 Graham Farish catalogue at a trade event held in London. The Graham Farish catalogue covers British outline N Scale models. This year, several models will be upgraded to include provision for the fitting of Sound, allowing us to increase the number of SOUND FITTED models following the overwhelming popularity of the Castle Class Steam Locomotive and Class 40 Diesel Locomotive – the first Graham Farish locomotives to be offered with this feature. SOUND FITTED models will now feature the suffix ‘SF’ on their item number which will gradually replace the ‘DS’ suffix that was previously used. New tooling is being developed for the WD 40T ‘Parrot’ Wagon and HKA Bogie Hopper Wagon to further expand our extensive range of wagons. Details of these developments, and a full listing of new items, can be found below. NEW TOOLING N SCALE WAGONS NEW TOOLING WD 40T ‘PARROT’ BOGIE WAGON 250 wagons were constructed in 1917 to the standard LNWR 40 ton ‘Parrot’ bogie trolley design for the War Department – for use at home and by the French Railways during the First World War. After the war 25 of these were passed over to the LNWR to join the original ‘Parrot’ wagons and a further 140 were sold to the Midland Railway, plus some to the Caledonian Railway. The remainder of the wagons were either left in France or retained for use by the British Military. At the time of the Grouping in 1923, all the wagons in railway company ownership became part of the LMS fleet. By the Second World War the original 40t ‘Parrot’ wagons were requisitioned by the War Department for further military use. 373-350 WD 40T 'Parrot' Bogie Wagon WD Grey 373-351 WD 40T 'Parrot' Bogie Wagon LMS Grey NEW TOOLING – HKA BOGIE HOPPER WAGON In the early 1990s, National Power was developing plans to run its own coal trains to Drax Power Station. Trials had taken place during the autumn of 1992 using Tiphook KPA bogie hopper wagons. The real wagons can be defined as inners (without buffers) and outers (with buffers) and the Graham Farish models will be supplied with plug-in buffers in the accessory pack, allowing consumers to configure their models to meet their own requirements. 373-811 HKA Bogie Hopper 'National Power' Blue - weathered 373-812 HKA Bogie Hopper Debranded 'National Power' Blue - weathered 373-813 HKA Bogie Hopper DB Schenker SOUND UPGRADES FOR EXISTING MODELS 2019 sees three locomotives upgraded to include provision for the fitting of Sound, with SOUND FITTED versions of each included in the 2019 range. In addition, SOUND FITTED versions of the Class 101 and Class 150 DMUs will also be available for the first time. All SOUND FITTED models offer a range of synchronized sounds on analogue (DC) control, so modellers can enjoy the added dimension that Sound brings whether they use analogue or DCC to operate their layout. CLASS 5MT – upgraded to include provision for sound and a SOUND FITTED option. 17. Bachmann Europe Plc Launch 2019 Catalogues The 2019 Bachmann Branchline and Graham Farish Catalogues were launched today at a trade event held in London. Alongside the announcement of several new-tooling projects, a host of new models utilising existing tooling were unveiled and Bachmann were able to provide updates on several highly anticipated models that are currently in development, many of which are expected to come to fruition during 2019. With a changing retail climate and increased competition across multiple sectors, 2018 proved to be a challenging, but ultimately successful year for Bachmann Europe, culminating in the release of several key products during the final quarter. Alongside our in-house brands, such as Bachmann Branchline and Graham Farish, Bachmann Europe are trusted by many established partners, from Woodland Scenics to Trumpeter and Proses to HK Models, to distribute and support their products in the UK and Europe. Together, we continue to bring exciting, new products to the market – such as the Woodland Scenics Field System (static grass) and the HK Models 1:32 scale Avro Lancaster (plastic construction kit). 2018 saw the addition of the ModelMaker range of tools and hobby aids to our ever-growing portfolio, whilst Bachmann Europe was also appointed as the UK distributor for a new brand of plastic military kits – Gecko Models. "Despite the closure of one of the production facilities operated by our parent company, Kader, we are pleased to report that the new facilities in China (Gaobu) that were in the process of being commissioned during 2018, are now fully operational with staffing levels continuing to rise. In addition, we have been encouraged by the number of staff who were previously employed at the now-closed factory, transferring to the new Gaobu site – bringing with them their valuable experience in the manufacture of model railway products." Nevertheless, 2018 saw the release of several highly anticipated new models including the first Bachmann Narrow Gauge OO9 scale Baldwin 10-12-D Steam Locomotives and associated wagons. The Branchline OO scale H1 and H2 Atlantic Steam Locomotives were released, along with the Class 70/8 Diesel Locomotive, BR MK1 POT Stowage Vans, BR FFA/FGA Freightliner Flat Wagons, BR MK1 Carflat Wagons and the 22T Plate & Bolster Wagons – produced exclusively for The Model Centre. No less than five different types of BR MK2F Coach were released, with ‘DCC FITTED’ versions incorporating the latest digital technology giving DCC controlled lighting – including working tail lights and, where applicable, central door locking lights. Other models, such as the GNR C1 Class Atlantic Steam Locomotive and the BR MK1 Horsebox, were made available to our retail network for the first time. The Graham Farish N scale BR MK1 Carflat wagon was produced exclusively for the N Gauge Society whilst new livery variants of several popular models were released. In all, more than 250 new items were released across our Bachmann Branchline, Graham Farish and Scenecraft ranges in 2018. During 2018 Bachmann received numerous accolades for our models and we would like to thank those consumers who voted for our products, resulting in the following achievements: 2017 British Model Railway Awards (RMweb/BRM): N Scale Locomotive – Graham Farish Class 40 Diesel Locomotive N Scale Rolling Stock – Graham Farish Hawksworth Autocoach N Scale Manufacturer – Graham Farish OO Scale Rolling Stock – Bachmann Branchline Birdcage Coaches Overall Manufacturer – Bachmann Europe Model of the Year 2017 (Model Rail): N Scale Locomotive – Graham Farish Class 40 Diesel Locomotive N Scale Rolling Stock – Graham Farish Hawksworth Autocoach N Scale Manufacturer – Graham Farish OO Scale Multiple Units – Bachmann Branchline 4TC (Kernow) Electronic Accessory – Woodland Scenics Just Plug Streetlights Hornby Magazine Model Railway Awards 2018: N Scale Locomotive – Graham Farish Class 40 Diesel Locomotive Overall Manufacturer – Bachmann Europe The OO9 Society’s P.
