Fantastic work Dave and also a great photo. Track work looks great also. Any plans to make the platform lights illuminate (or is that just too easy). One of the humans could also be puffing on a ciggie (glowing and puffs of smoke as well). Is that stupid or a challenge? Eddie
  2. Coming on well Phil. Love the view of the Bulled 5500 gallon tender poking through the rear of the shed. Brings back many memories. Do you run the Bulleids with 10 on? Also the cycle rack and what could be toilets at the rear of the shed. Looks much like a photo at 71A. Eddie
  3. Graham My apologies for a very delayed "thank you". I confess i couldn't find the link. Much appreciate the information on Bibby Line. I love the way that you model the "out of the ordinary". Really good to see these variations Eddie
  4. Thanks for sharing the very interesting photos of 35022. I have never seen a model MN with the nameplate covered. Do you know if 35020 was originally delivered with plates covered and when they were removed. Eddie
  5. Background colour to the flag looks exactly right. Lining looks great. Well done sir. Eddie
  6. Overdue for an update. Despite the lack of postings there has been a great deal of activity with point motors being installed and wired up, daughter boards constructed and track/points laid and ballasted. Dave has completed the switched diamond that was shown under construction in an earlier post and Rich has completed (except the final cosmetics, painting/ballasting etc) the fully operational "Wide to Gauge Catch Point" a shown in Dave's photo (post # 7). A photo of the latter in the open position is attached. Eddie
  7. I just wanted to say that your layout has given me many tips and lots of inspiration to speed up progress on my own BR - SR layout. Thank you and also for the great photos. Eddie
  8. Paul, Very interesting concept and very detailed, look forward to progress reports. Thanks also for the photo link. Eddie
  9. Derek, Interesting idea, i look forward to seeing the photos and details of the trains you propose to run. Eddie
  10. As Dave has mentioned in earlier posts, after much deliberation a track plan was devised and track laying commenced. Work was nearing completion when the Group looked into the locations of the “main scenic elements†as listed in the 3rd. Post and one of our members started to build card “mock ups†of some of the “must haves†including: The creosote plant The machine shop The gantry crane Said member had already built the (in)famous engine shed (the rear wall was demolished during a shunting operation) and a photograph of the shed and some of the “mock ups†are attached. The “sizing†of the real buildings deserves a Post in its own right. Suffice to say locating the scenic items on the constructed boards quickly highlighted that some modifications to the yard track layout were to accommodate buildings of a reasonable size. During the process the decision as made to use N gauge as the track standard for the rails in the creosote plant. Although the final track layout has yet to be decided…… More to follow……………….. This is the first time i have attempted to add photographs, hope they appear !
  11. Thanks for the updates and more great shots, I particularly liked the one of 34026. Eddie
  12. As is recognised above, a fair amount of research has been carried out. Also, there was an earlier thread on RM Web that asked for any recollections of workings, particularly in the yard pre 1967. Any memories, however short, would be very welcome. Thank you in anticipation. Eddie
  13. Great idea for preventing dust Brian. Thanks for the tip. Eddie
  14. Thanks for a very interesting history and some great shots. I was particularly interested in the shot showing the roadside of the station building. I have yet to decide what type of structure to adopt for my model of an enlarged "Exmouth" with a double track mainline, through and terminal platforms. The Art Deco style was used at the rebuilt Seaton of course so maybe, just down the road, Exmouth could have received the same treatment. Eddie
  15. As you said, better to try something rather than delay and get nothing built. Something i have found out for myself ! Luckily i have had a great deal of help from an esteemed RM Web Member ! Look forward to seeing progress, good luck. Eddie
  16. Well done Robert. I met Albert and Shirley on many occasions and always came away with many of his Bulleid and other useful Southern bits (like the concrete lamp posts). When they were delivered by post there was always few notes or even a long missive, to help. Always written in Albert's own hand of course. His knowledge of Bullied locos was second to none. Good luck with this addition to your range.
  17. Very cold in Ampshire, bet PhilH glad he is not on call.
  18. I remember this station very well from my visits in the mid 60's. Great project and look forward to seeing more. Eddie
  19. until

I have attended many of the recent shows and have always found it friendly and with very good layouts and some good traders.
  20. Tim, Much enjoyed this thread and look forward to the updates. I am modelling "Exmouth" as it might have been had the town grown and the connection from the mainline been facing rather than trailing. Making my Exmouth have two through platforms from Tipton to Exeter and two terminal platforms. I have a model of 34008 as shedded at Brighton in 1962 and works my take on the Brighton to Plymouth through train. I am assuming that the loco was changed at my Exmouth rather then Salisbury. All fantasy of course bit it enables me to run my fleet of Bulleid's. Eddie

Dave, it's looking great. Of course a Bullied at the head of the green coaches would make it perfect. Hope you have time to make one before Stafford. Eddie
  22. Thanks to everybody for their welcome messages. Like you said, the sun is over the yard arm somewhere in the world, must be time for a drink. Cheers
  23. Is it too late to post as an "early riser", when is the cut off time. First time i've contributed. Feel sorry for Eldavo having to vote in a pub, id find it difficult not to have a pint. Cheers

Congratulations Dave on not only a great model but a technical manual on "how to do it" for us lesser mortals. So many tips to help new and experienced modellers. Thanks to all the other modellers that took part.
