  1. Hi all, As an novice to re-painting models, I've got what may seem a stupid question to the forum - irrespective, it's causing me an issue and would like to see if anyone can help me out. I'm re-spraying a class 37 into Dutch livery using cans. I had the yellow complete and went on to paint the lower grey. Having masked off the yellow, and completed the grey, last night I was gutted to see that the masking tape has lifted large areas of the yellow off. What have I done wrong? If I now go back to re-paint the yellow, by masking the grey, do I run the same risk? thanks for any information 37403
  2. I expect them to accept responsibility for the error which in my case the trader has done albeit this being a Hornby issue. Your second paragraph is interesting. If you were to put down a deposit on a Ford ST3 based on the salesroom brochure at £30k, would you be okay getting a standard Ford focus which is worth £13k based on the premise that it's alright even though its not as high quality, it's not dangerous, its not something completely different and it runs quite well....I don't think so. The point is the item as advertised is different to what I purchased on the premise of.
  3. Very poor response in my opinion. As stated, they are missing the point. This is not a £48 box of three models yet were sold on that premise and no amount of hoods will compensate for that. I feel sorry for the retailers having to deal with this now.
  4. Hi guys, Has anyone else ordered the above wagons? My pre-order arrived on Saturday and what a disappointment. The pre-order images clearly displayed the high quality versions with metal buffers, small couplings, hoods, and a half decent under frame.....the £48 price I feel reflected this. Upon opening, I was extremely disappointed to find that the wagons are the old railroad range..they look terrible. I've taken this up with the trader I purchased from and they agree that the models while not traded as railroad clearly are. Does anyone else have the same disappointment?
  5. Thanks for your response. I would assume that Hornby will take responsibility for these matters?
  6. Having read this thread, I thought I'd have a look at some of the models I have in storage. My railfreight 56049 has a hairline slit above the chassis on the bodyside beside the drivers door. Would I be correct in saying this is the start of the rot? Has anyone else had issues with the 56's?
  7. Great Stuff Jon. This was a fascinating time period with quite an eclectic mix of locos and stock hanging onto a working life. Please keep us posted with updates, will be following with interest
  8. Looks very good. There are a few folk out there modelling this period Are your 37s Bachmann? Look very nicely weathered. What other stock do you intend to run?
  9. Excellent stuff as always. Who is the supplier of the flush nosed 37's ends?
  10. Excellent stuff. Do you do your own resprays?
  11. Really excellent thread, enjoying reading over this. How large is the room the layout is built in? I have very limited space at present, would love a bigger space to build.

Has there been any updates from Dapol on these?
  13. Sorry if this has been asked, I don't see the question, however, could someone advise on the operational periods each of the wagons heljans produced? Did any make it into the 1990s?
  14. Personally, im quite pleased with the selection. The Virgin 47 was something I've been waiting on for a while, didn't fancy the repaint. EWS next please Bachmann. The grey 08 is also nice. I was disappointed the orange SPT class 101 wasn't announced however, there is enough other things to save for
  15. Enjoying watching the progress. Did you ever get round to counting all your stock? You have a right good mix of stock, look forward to seeing the layout progress
  16. I placed an order with them last week and to date, my parcel has not arrived. There seems to be a communication issue, I have emailed them several times to no response.
  17. Fantastic layout. I've been watching this layout develop and you have truly captured the scene incredibly well. You can almost imagine being the train spotter on the EMU trying to sneak a peak of the 08 number as it shunts around the yard. More pics please
  18. What a great layout, bang on the "other" modelling era I do. I grew up when Transrail, Loadhall and Mainline were in full flow. As people have mentioned before, it appears you have a great selection of rolling stock. Do you have a list of what you've got?
  19. Jumping back to a previous post regarding the 3x20s on the mgrs. As I understood it, while the rear loco was used to assist the need for a run round, was there not an issue with stress on the couplings? Im sure I've heard that they were concerned about the drawbar which is why the back 20 was used to "push" to get loaded working on the move. I might be talking rubbish but it's what I recall
  20. Look forward to seeing its progress. How do you envisage detailing the bufferbeam? The Bachmann supplied nonsense isn't even worth discussion I noticed you mentioned previously in your thread it was a problem.
  21. Great modelling. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get the front bufferbeam detailing, pipes etc? I started to work on a bachy 37 last night and have to admit, what's supplied is terrible and doesn't even match the real thing!
  22. What a lovely compact layout. Will continue to follow with interest.
  23. Fantastic stuff James. Im looking forward to the grotty traction which might be seen at the helm of one of the sets!
  24. Hm, that doesn't bode well as I'd heard that the dalston and prestwicks were also being looked at. Can anyone enlighten?
  25. Absolutely superb. I recall the day sister dora teamed up with the mainline machine. I watched it leaving Falkland yard. More please......:-)
