  1. Somebody Already Broke My Heart - Sade
  2. Evenng All, Much skipping has happened for variious reasons. We had our first payout from the cabinet - £32, for sales from Friday to Monday only and we know from visiting yesterday that quite a few more items have sold - and I suspect that in the first week up to today that we should make about £80 - we get our next reckoning on Tuesday when we visit. As the rental is a tenner a week, we should show a profit. We have also stockpiled enough coal to see us through another year, and also got the patio set from Morereasons - who were very helpful, and as the car is so small, they unpacked it all into the back, and got rid of the packaging for us - of course it is flat packed, so there is a job to do there. Regards to All Stewart
  3. Summer In The City - Lovin Spoonful
  4. Afternoon All, A bit of skipping as laptop in use for pricing of items to be put in the cabinet - and went to coal merchant for four more bags of house coal - probably the last we will ever get - but it's quite good, though a but bigger than the nuts we normally use. The merchant said that they got a delivery of 19 tons (tonnes) and was bagging them up - there was a pallet of bags up the side, which had all been bagged, and the bags were sealed - presumably automatically on the bagging machine, then one of the operatives was cutting the sealed end open, as coal can only legally be sold in open bags - many merchants will not even sell bags singly - inisisting on a minimum order or a 50kg sack or six 29 kg bags - still it will all end next month when housecoal is banned from sale. So now we've priced over 150 items, and will be changing the cabinet tomorrow - we repriced a few items, as we felt that they were too dear, abd we don't want to just change the price on the labels - 30747 said it doesn't look professional - she's probably right so we are taking the pieces out, bringing them home, relabelling, and then taking them back. Also a trip to Morereasons as they have some small patio sets on offer for our back garden. Regards to All Stewart
  5. Afternoon All, Came here earlier, but here wasn't here - it was somewhere else. Visited Leominster, and delighted that we have already sold six items from the cabinet - it covers the first two weeks rent - and we have only been selling since Saturday. And some very good and surprising news at the coal merchant's - we went there to buy some smokeless fuel again, and saw some bags of house coal - and bought three at £12.50 each - they have a small supply, and we are going to buy more tomorrow - with just a little Seat, we can only safely move about four, and with the stock box also in the back and the shopping on the back seatl three was all we wanted to risk - but over the next few days we should get enough to see us through the next year. Not a lot more to report. Regards to All Stewart
  6. That would cost about the same here, GDB, about £2450. Just caught up, and Q - my sincere condolences - even if it was expected, it is still a massive shock - something which as the years advance, we learn more and more often as our friends and relatives pass away. Strange that a 3 bed semi in Sutton is in band E, ours in Whyteleafe was also in band E in Lancaster was band C, and our present one is in band B - it just shows how unfair the council tax system is - but I suspect that using local slugs estate agents to do the initial bandings has a lot to answer for. Meter people didn't get here until 11.55 which is a close to a late arrival as it can get without actually getting there. The guy had come from Shrewsbury, and had to do a job there before ours - as his next job was in Newtown, with another one after that - how he was going to manage that, no idea - he didn't leave here until 13.45. Got to say he did a neat job, and only left us without power for a very short time, and not the quoted "hour to 90 minutes per fuel" quoted by Shell. Still it's done, and all the appliances that needed reset have been reset. Visiting Leominster tomorrow as we want to check the cabinet, and see if it needs any additional stock (here's hoping). Possibly back for a visit after that.
  7. Morning All, Just a quick check in before the power goes off for up to three hours, as Shell s having a third attempt to change the non functining not so smart meters - as usual all they can give is a four hour arrival slot - you'd think that having screwed up twice before, they could be a little more accurate - but no - 8 til12 is all they can offer. I asked them to ensure that we were first call, but they couldn't even guarantee that. Just got our council tax bill, and feel a little bit smug, compared to GDB and bear, ours is pretty low at just over £1300 with full adult occupancy - but then our house is in band B - which is surprising, as it is just about the same size as our previous place - possibly a little smaller - and our old house was in band C. Not a lot more to report from this quarter today, will call back later once the meter people have done their thing. Regards to All Stewart
  8. Afternoon All, Much skipping, as I am still pricing and labelling - the cabinet was filled for the first tranche of collectables - we now have five boxes of stuff, and the cabinet took about two of them - but it looks very nice, and we are pleased with the outcome - and my ex collegue was on duty there and showed us the ropes as to how things operate. She sent a text later on to let us know that we had sold our first item - which was very good to hear. Tomorrow it is Oxfam (hopefully learning to do the online listings) - and picking up 30747's prescription, PLUS a trip to Aldi on my own after my shift ends - oh frabjoy. Regards to All Stewart
  9. Rock Around The Clock - Bill Haley and the Comets
  10. I actually did that, as this house was under offer to another buyer, after we had seen it, and tried to make an offer - so we had to find an alternative, which we did, but not in the area that we really wanted (ie Ludlow or surrounds). Then the buyer pulled out due to his lender not coming up with the goodies for sone reason not related to the house - so we were asked if our offer stood, and it did, so we proceeded to withdraw our offer on the fallback - and we really felt bad about it, but we knew deep down that we had to go with the house that we really wanted - price, location, and quality of house were all in its favour - even though this one is a semi, and the other was a larger detached. Afternoon All, Been AWOL due to much pricing and packing of stuff to sell in the cabinet - we get the keys tomorrow, so will be filling boxes tonight, having priced and listed all the items for the first wave - we probably have enough stuff to change the stock completely four times - we plan to visit twice a week to service the cabinet - and we may well try to get a second cabinet in another centre. Ludlow writers tonight - will be leaving in about an hour. Regards to All Stewart
  11. Afternoon All, Some skipping, as the laptop has been in use to do price comparisons on the items being priced and labelled for sale in the cabinet. We were waiting as well for the people from our energy provider to come and change the smart meters - due between 8.00 am and 12 noon, so we were up, breakfasted, dog walked, and prepared for 2 hours without power. Now you will remember that this was a revisit after they couldn't do the work last week - so I rang at 11.00 as no one hour's notice call had been received, and after a long hold, they said that the previous advisor had made a mistake and that the appointment was for a date in late May!! - needless to say, I far from happy, and made our displeasure obvious to the advisor. We now have an appointment for next Tuesday - we'll see. Regards to All Stewart
  12. Afternoon All, Happy Birthday Neil - hope it went well. We are now the proud renters of a cabinet in one of Leominster's many antique centres - and very strangely, one of my colleagues there is a lady with whom I worked at BT in Lancaster - we both got p*ssed off with BT and with Lancaster, and both moved to the West Midlands - but it is a strange coincidence that the two is us are renting space in the same antique centre - no doubt we will reminisce over the cr*p time that we both had there when we meet up - which we will, as she has a larger unit, and has an attendance requirement of one day a week - cabinet renters are exempt from this. Boxes that we sent to the loft are now retrieved, and the next few days will spent in buffing up the stock, and pricing up. Regards to All Stewart
  13. Nice to see that I am not the only one indifferent to the absence or otherwise of the so called football "experts". The last football match I attended was interrupted by an announcement over the tannoy that president Kennedy had been shot and had just died.
  14. Afternoon All Well that was fun - it has been decided that "we" are going to take a cabinet in one of the antique centres locally - there's loads of them within 15 miles. There were eight boxes of items earmarked for sale at the car boot, but many of them are too good to give away - hence the cabinet - so about six thirty this morning, 30747 decided that this was a goer, and we will go and rent the cabinet tomorrow - and I agreed to sort the boxes with her over the nest few days. SOME HOPE - I suggested getting a couple from the loft, and before that could start, we had to sort out the shed, where the logs had been stored, and use it as space to store the car boot boxes - done well before 9 am. So up to the loft for a couple of boxes - and once they were sorted and the car boot stuff to the shed, and cabinet stuff back in the loft, and "can you just get a couple more" - and so it went on until all eight were sorted - so much for doing a couple of boxes every day for a few days later in the week. Not a lot more to report, but I have skimmed a few days worth of posts. Regards to All Stewart
  15. Call On Me - Rankin FIle (different song)
  16. Afternoon All Didn't even bother to think about going out today - no need, no point. Fire lit about noon, and living room is toasty warm. DInner awaits, and a glass of Glen Scotia will also be partaken with the meal (or before). I hear the air fryer going, so I guess it's sausage and chips today. Regards to All Stewart
  17. Morning Afternoon All About 1" of snow has resulted in all the schools round here being closed - ISTR that 60 years ago in 1963, I had to WALK to school every day, even though the snow was being measured in FEET - but hey, today's little darlings don't know what discomfort is - out of the centrally heated house, into the mummymobile (preheated of course), and dropped at the gates - and into the centrally heated school - then the reverse. Just in case of problems, we walked to the local Co-op to top up with bread, rolls, and milk. The cashier seemed very surprised that we had walked even though it is only about 600 yards if that. We don't plan on going anywhere much else today. The stove was lit at about 9.30 this morning - so much more homely than the central heating, and the living room is about 22 C - and with the living room door open, that heat permeates the house and with the chimney breast in our bedroom. we only need the heating when the stove is not lit. Not a lot more to report ATM - dinner is on - Holland's Steak and Kidney puds = two each, new potatoes, and a veg pot - all nice and hearty to keep the cold out - as did a glass of Cardhu Gold. Now Beatles lovers try this for a new breath of life to one of their early classics. Regards to All Stewart
  18. The Morning - Another Morning - Moody Blues
  19. First two bags were deposited while awaiting 30747'ys prescription, and they have already been given a week no and shelved - so that's that. 30747 was very pleased to be seen, as she has a really terrible swelling on one finger, and the Dr lanced it, and prescribed antibiotics - it's a shame that it took her so long to decide to visit the Dr, as it was really quite bad. The snow abated while we were out, but returned just after we got back - luckily we also got the shopping yesterday, so won't need to go out if it gets any worse, and also it's lucky that we decided to go up North last week, as this horrible weather appears to be pretty widespread.
  20. Afternoon All, The laptop has been in use for a few days as I priced all the railway book donations at home, and there are about 50 titles going off to Oxfam - probably a total value to them of £150 - £170, but rather than list 50 books on Ebay, with the chance of them not selling, and also the hassle of packing them and going to the Co-op every time one sells, I just can't be a*sed. Got to go out in the snow - at least it's not too heavy - as 30747 has a Dr appointment - she rang yesterday, and got a face to face with an actual GP (and a partner too) this afternoon - miracle. Back tomorrow Regards to All Stewart
  21. I have priced and sorted all the railway books, and TBH there is nothing much of interest, as I have held back a few which priced up as too good to donate - so they've gone onto Ebay. Anybody interested PM me, and I'll let you have my eBay user name to search - there's only three going on at present.
  22. I found out yesterday that the online specialist is very ill in hospital, and I have been asked to train for that task starting in a couple of weeks,
  23. We normally put anything above about £11.99 online - there is an online specialist who works on Saturdays doing the listing - and the manager or assistant manager both spend about an hour a day on sending out the sales. The sales are handled from the shop, and not centrally.
