  1. I think it would be wise to return the loco and get a refund ( or replacement there is still stock around in the retailers) by returning Bachmann will hopefully get the loco back and be able to perhaps identify the issue. I have to agree that the sound is excellent, and certainly brings the loco to life, especially the standing sounds, extremely easy and quick to fit the decoder as well. Would love to hear those 20+ diesels ticking over together! 2 or 3 SLW 24s is about the limit for me before I lose concentration!
  2. Update Arcadia Rail still has 3 variants available at Box shifter price!
  3. As I posted in error on the other Atlantic thread, Just advising ARCADIA MODELS has Beachy Head in stock same price as the Box Shifters, best to phone t0 get rapid usually same day despatch 01706882900
  4. For Info ARCADIA MODELS has stock of 'Beachy Head' 32424 same price as the box shifters tel 01706882900 for fast usually same day despatch ( as long as too ,amy don't phone at the same time!!)
  5. I fully agree with Nearholmer, I think its definately Brandbright, I built a few in the 80s, when I was going thorough my live steam period! They did a range of different length coaches from short 4 wheel ones to long bogies coaches. I am sure that somewhere I have some photos, If I locate them I will post a couple
  6. Just ordered a couple of items from Arcadia Models. For information...….Tims website is kept up to date and shows what he ACTUALLY has in stock. anyone looking for items that others have sold out of may find it worth while having a look through the lists, also it is worth a phone call if an item being sought is not listed in the lists. 01706882900 ….. if ordering it is best to phone. There are also some interesting 4 figure items listed as well See Micrometakit
  7. Tim at ARCADIA does stock Heljan in depth, I have had many a a Heljan bargain from him! There are almost 3 pages of Heljan Listings on his website currently and he probably got more in stock which are not listed.
  8. Really? I have been a customer of Tower Models since they first opened in Cookson Street,, over the years I visited the shop several times ( as luck would have it my employment territory often included Blackpool) my more recent purchases have been from telephone orders, I have always found Dave & Richard to be nothing but courteous & Helpful, On the very few occasions I have had a problem with an item, it has been dealt with rapidly sometimes a replacement being received before the faulty one was returned and always an adjustment for my out of pocket expenses.
  9. Bought myself a supply of PN53 wheelsets from Dundas Models in Scotland, started the task of re wheeling, my mothballed Peco 009 stock this evening! May I recommend Dundas Models for their courteous rapid service, telephone order arrived next day, also had an interesting chat with the proprietor, it is actually nice to be able to speak to a supplier rather than doing it online! ( Dundas Models 01592 640896, www.dundasmodels.co.uk)
  10. If you play your cards right they will be happy to give you a couple of armfuls of bubble wrap, if you ask nicely!! ( particularly Tesco)
  11. Some years ago I had a Hornby King Class (NOT the current model the earlier version) delivered to me it was faulty immeditely returned and not replaced, I have a vague memory that the tender pickup on that loco was only one sided.
  12. Have to agree with Ian, I use Rails quite often, for the many scales I 'dabble' in, never had a problem ( I have bought from them for many years), if an issue has occurred which is very infrequent it is dealt with courteously, and without any cost to me, actually 3 or 4 weeks ago I purchased an item (new) which had a small manufacturing (assembly) fault which rendered the power transfer from one bogie to the PCB board not working, I was able to fix it myself , I spoke to Rails and they gave me an acceptable discount for my problem. The point is that when I described the problem to the person I spoke to it was immediately understood, which is not always the case with some retailers
  13. For info ARCADIA RAIL SHAW had stock at the weekend, TIM is on Holiday now so shop reopens 22nd AUG. so there will be none sold until then! always best to phone 01706882900
  14. I am looking for Farish 4 CEP (s) Green preferred and Hornby/Arnold Brighton Belle 5 BEL ( either livery) I am aware of current retailer and eBay S/H items just wondering if any private individuals have any for sale,,However should anyone know of any smaller retailers who do not advertise frequently have any please let me know Many Thanks Steve
  15. I have been a Hattons customer since the mid 60s when I was a personal shopper at the Original Aladdins Cave of Smithdown Road, I Have to say though that in the last 12 months although my level of ordering Model railway items has stayed at the same level, much less now goes Hattons Way! They are simply not as competitive as they used to be, I find that some of the smaller models shops charge less than Hattons and their postal rates are less. I regularly order from Arcadia in Shaw, the order always arrives next day, also Track Shack on the IOM, order by 4-00pm and order arrives next day mostly post free I did though receive a delivery of some N gauge items today from Hattons, 1 loco & 4 coaches and a magazine,, the box the order was delivered in was around 4X larger than it needed to be, however the mass of bubble wrap & Airbags was a welcome addition to my stock of packing materials for my eBay activities!!
  16. I have received my order 2 days after ordering, and found the kits to be of excellent quality, I built a 'lineside hut' a simple kit of around 8 parts it went together perfectlly, just requires painting now, a second kit of a Wayside Station shelter is 75% constructed and again excellent quality, I will post photos when completed, I have no connection with the seller , I simply found his sales items when browsing eBay for 0 Gauge structures
  17. Hi Keith, raise the envy level and show them some of the later pics.... The current weather and phots like yours do tempt me to leave the shed and get back into the open air!! Problem is the garden has sort of been taken over by the domestic authorities and I am closeley watched in case I venture out with a box of LGB track and a cpouple of sackes of gravel!!
  18. I was already into G scale when I discovered Arcadia, must be over 20+ years ago, my first order was an RhB Red Railcar about £650 in those days but around 15% less than the competition, if any one gets a chance in Arcadia ask Tim about that Railcar and a Car Bumper Bar!
  19. Its a bit like shopping in Home Bargains stores ( one of which recently opened close by) we go in for a couple of items and emerge with a dozen or so! Mind you like Arcadia the prices are always very beneficial, the other local supemarket's proportion of our weekly shopping expenditure has declined dramatically...…. I Know it Makes sense
  20. The stock range at Arcadia is greater than the website suggests, I needed a couple of rolls of Woodland Scenics H0 gauge ballast underlay, so mentioned it to Tim a couple of days ago and was informed he stocked it, so they were duly despatched to me arriving next day an cost me exactly the same as the discounters,
  21. Have to agree, if its not fun no point in doing it!! No rivet counting here! As I type...……. under the spare bed I have a box full of Kato Unitrack probably around £300s worth which comes out occasionally and we build a table based layout and run trains, all sorts of trains, Japanese, UK, Continental, and 009, quite relaxing to watch a long ish train snake over a Kato scissors crossing! And I agree the Kato controller does provide excellent control. We have a 'female' visitor who frequently visits (one of my sons lives just 1/10 mile away so we are very well placed to 'look after her for a while. ' she has not reached controller using age ( only just one) but takes a great interest in the trains, so perhaps hope for the future! Apologises for the topic drift but I did mention 009
  22. Search in O Gauge BRIDGES,TUNNELS AND BUILDINGS will try to put link on later
  23. OK Please explain how it is done realistically on analogue I am sure there are some who would like to learn. BTW I am no a proponent of Digital systems simply a satisfied user of the system for over 20 years Prior to that I was a satisfied user of analogue systems for 40 odd years.
  24. I agree very impressive, I had a steepish incline on one of my 00 layouts ( made purposely steep) I used to bank trains up with a Bachmann Jinty with a modified Kadee coupling which allowed the loco to push, but the knuckle did not engage so that at the summit, the Jinty would realistically slow as the train continued on its way
