  1. Still pondering this one, it stirs a memory, I bought my first H0e around '69, and I also started in N Gauge around the same time, I also used Arnold chassis for Peco 009 white metal kits, but I can definitely say that Arnold were not involved with H0e (if they were they kept it very quiet!) The Cassis itself dates back quite a few years, not the made in WEST Germany on the base, ( although for some time after reunification items still appeared with West Germany on them) The chassis also has quite wide wheel treads and slotted screws (although these are used still used by some manufacturers such as Halling/Stangl/Ferrotrain on some items). The name on the loco is intruiging and would seem to indicate it was not named, by the owner in a non English speaking country, thus indicating a possible UK previous owner, I have had a quick scan through some Austrian NG books ( Schmallspurig durch Osterriech etc) and some old CMs but nothing came to light. Anyway you have bought something unusual and unique so enjoy it!
  2. To The best of my knowledge, in N Gauge ( which I have 'done' since it was first marketed) Arnold have never made any H0e items, so it must be an alternative body on the V100 chassis. It has a familiar look to it though but just what escapes me! I would be interested to know though!
  3. Should this not be posted in the correct section? (Prototype perhaps?)
  4. Thanks Neil Must admit I do not have the slightest clue about ships, it was a pure impulse buy! Although I recall when i was very young my Mum had a model of 'Nina' one of Columbus' 3 ships around 30 " long I was not allowed to even touch it!, I often wonder what became of it' Just had the wonderful experience of fitting headcode discs to the Farish loco, used my (un) usual method of a bright LED light and washing up liquid and the inevitable eye strain!
  5. Order placed April 3rd at 3-15PM Delivered April 4th 8-00AM Order was mainly Farish items, 1 loco and half a dozen items of rolling stock & a couple of decoders totalling approx. £230, which beat the closest competition (when the FREE shipping is taken into consideration) by around £25! Now totally off topic, for which I offer my apologies! Re my conv with Neil yesterday when placing order, the ship model I purchased from a Charity shop yesterday totally as an impulse buy, was made by Nauticalia of London, Who do a surprising range of products, The ship is a model of HMS Victory listed in their range for £99.99. I paid £4.50 for mine
  6. Not nescessarilly eBay have supported me several times, from buyers who have 'tried it on' to gain advantage from me! (Stevesoller on eBay)
  7. Well 29th Tomorrow the breath is Baited :scratchhead:and the fingers crossed Mind you Antics are showing that the 'next warehouse delivery' of the Quarry Hunslet is April 25 ( doesn't say what year though)
  8. Well I hope you buy him a drink (non Alcoholic of course!)
  9. Having 'topped up' with some additional 009 rolling stock purchases today I was wondering if there is any up to date information as to whether the Bachmann Baldwin 4-6-0 is still 'Go For Launch' April-May? Whilst writing just like to mention that eBay seller 'a5036' has expanded his range of resin cast 009 accessories to include loads for the Bachmann Bogie open wagon and also a load for another 009 manufacturers L&B open bogie wagon
  10. Emails from Hattons delivery dates for the recently added variants eg GVT JUNE/ JULY 2019
  11. Some may have noticed my Avatar!! When that photo was taken there was little alternative choice of loco available Had there been Stanier Pacific. or King or Castle, or even SR Spamcam around then FS would not have got a look in!!
  12. I I Believe that 'Last One in Stock' is always an excellent way to boost sales!!
  13. WOW Brilliant pics..... it brings to mind Dinting Railway Centre ( Nr Glossop UK) now long gone, we lived not far away in those days and would often visit, On weekdays it was usually deserted and it was rather erie walking alongside the cold locos in the dismal dark shed, Bittern A4 was there for some time along with a ROD 2-8-0, Blue Peter was parked outside for a while, somewhere I have a photo of my eldest son standing alongside Blue Peter he was aged around 18 months, he celebrated his 40th Birthday last August...doesn't time fly!
  14. Would anyone who has handled the Baldwin be able to give an approximation of the weight please, I am in the planning stage of a new layout which will be on 2 levels and so I am attempting to work out suitable gradients etc.
  15. As I have posted on another website, I have 2 on order, having seen this I am tempted to order the other 2 and make it 4, or should I order 3 and wait until the GVT version arrives, decisions.. decisions!! As it may be gathered my 009 layouts tend to be a bit, non themed I just run what I Like!! (do we still call that rule 1?)
  16. These days when I place a Kernow order I simply pick up the phone and actually speak to them I find it actually saves time and many of my orders are multi item orders as well! . I have dealt with them for many years without any problems
  17. You need to post this in a more appropriate forum Modelling Help & Tips perhaps?
  18. Back in the 80s I was doing some calls in Ashton under Lyne, when stopped at some traffic signals I glanced to my left and there was a cycle shop, in the window I spotted some Hornby Dublo items, so when the lights turned green I drove down a side road parked up and went into the shop, to my surprise there was a 2 car EMU set and also 3 centre cars I asked the shopkeeper what the price was and he said 'give us a fiver for the lot' which I did, £5 in 1985 is worth around £10.50 today ( source inflation checker)
  19. Interesting post on NGRM Re Baldwin in the 'TRADE Matters' section
  20. Re the Baldwin, there is a recent post on NGRM in the Trade section ref a reveiw of the locos, which sounds quite promising
  21. Casting my mind back to the release of the first batch, the release dates were extended many times, I therefore think that it is a case of wait and see, although the retailer who I buy the bulk of my items from has just told me that the last info he received was for delivery 'AROUND' Late April into May (hopefully this year!) We shall wait with baited breath
  22. In all the years of dealing with track shack,( My first few orders were for Garden Railway locos & Rolling stock that was long before John started to sell 00 & N) I have only had one order which took longer than next day to be delivered, that was when the Plane became unserviceable! I am wondering if I might suggest that 009 ranges could be stocked but perhaps the volume of sales from that sector may not prove it to be viable?
  23. Pretty typical of todays dramas which require railway footage both model and full size! ' And of course there was a comment from a police woman to the effect of ' why do men play trains' etc when she was in the Railway Room ,not sure of the exact words I was watching Homeland Ep1 !
  24. Hi I am assuming that the locos you are referring to are the early models that Roco produced of the 0-6-0 T loco?, not the later 0-6-0 locos which come as a tender version also. To Clean the pickups you need a bright light ( a Led torch which can be stood up and moved around is good) I do not have one of the early 0-6-0s to hand but assume that underneath they have a keeper plate which secures the wheels? Remove this carefully this should allow the axles to be raised, but if poss. not fully removed, it may then be possible to clean the wheel backs and wipers with a GOOD quality Q TIP ( not the cheap fluffy ones) a solvent may help if they are very dirty, It should then be possible to use tweezers to bend the pickups to ensure they are in positive contact to wheel backs. Are these fairly old locos ? they have had a long production run and some go back many years, may be worth looking at replacements, there are several eBay SHOPS with good reputations offering them at reasonable prices, you might like one of these !
  25. Talk to Arcadia rail Shaw ( telephone dont email) or Track Shack Isle of Man or De Rails,, you will be pleased with the srvice from all of these smaller retailers Have a read of the comments in the Model shop forums.
